I've got a camshaft from a 1991 7.3 and a camshaft from my 1994 7.3 with factory turbo.

The two gears are different. 1991 has puller holes. 1994 does not.

Are they interchangeable? And are the camshafts the same?

Thanks

This is correct. They are the same cam. International didn't balance the gear with the puller drilled holes. Later they found a vibration at idle that was remic. Many have felt it but had no idea how to stop it but increase idle rpm. The newer balanced gear fixed that and to remove it you just turn the puller jaws out and grip the gear thru the slots. Might want to heat up the gear so it pulls off easier too. Then heat it up to no more than 250 degrees to press it on another cam. Or simply just use the cam and gear that the newer style. BTW the cam and the injection pump gear have the same number of teeth in them and the crank gear has half as many teeth in it.

Alrighty. I sent the cam that was on the unbalanced gear to get reground as I have't pulled the cam out of the 1994 engine yet. I'll pull it out and swap the gear to the regrind when I get it back.

Thanks!
