So an update to this thread. I have gotten the ps pump pulley replaced and all is well there, no more belt interference. Have replaced the hoses and radiator, lift pump, fuel return lines, caps and injector o rings. Truck is finally where it needs to be to run well and I think it will last quite a while. I finally ran the front fuel tank empty today and found that the fuel gauge starts to hope between over full to a quarter tank when the tank is nearing empty, I guess I need to pull both tanks and clean them out and replace the pickups and sending units but that will wait until next spring.
It was 12 degrees this AM and I needed to move the truck to get my work van out and I never plugged it in last night. It cranked fine and false started a few times but did start with a bit of accelerator peddle applied and smoked a bit until it started running smooth, I was impressed that it started that easily on a cold morning with no help from block heaters or ether. I may have a small problem with fuel running back to the tank though as the truck sits on an incline to the rear but nothing I can't handle. I was also impressed that the fuel did not gel up because I have not used any additives at all in this truck. I need an anti-gel and a lubrication additive but haven't settled on one yet although I have been looking at ordering Hot Shot's Secret anti-get additive. What do you guys use?
I read on another thread about the parking brake issue and I have the same problem, peddle goes to the floor but does not hold without using 1st gear and a brick under a tire. Did the 1988 trucks have the plastic wedge in the parking brake peddle to stop the slip of the adjuster?
