For the last couple of years, I have been finding mysterious pieces of 1/8" thick foam, that looks like the cheap foam household A/C filters, in my floorboard and seats.

Small giblets, about postage stamp size.

Also, the right top corner surface of the dash will gather tiny granules of this same foam-like substance.

Today, the wife pointed out a rather large piece of this foam, blocking the A/C vent, just to the right of the steering-wheel.

I took my knife and fished it out, and, boy, did the air blow better out that hole.

This stuff almost has to be coming from inside my A/C ducts.

What purpose did it serve??

Should I panic??

Could it partially be to blame for my anemic blower performance??

Thanks.

it was just sound insulation and sealing foam around the duct joints. Unless theres a gross leak at the joint (which you'd know) theres nothing to worry about.
