How much play is considered to much in a Banks sidewinder turbo? I don't want to install it on my truck just to find out I should have rebuilt it first. Thanks.

to my understanding (could be wrong) but as long as the impeller doesnt rub on the housing, its good to go

first you are in the wrong forum.need to go down 1 more to the idi guys.

if you can pull/push,go up/down with the compressor wheel without it rubbing you should be fine.the idi guys can tell you exactly how much play you should have.

They had you in the right direction. Play sideways is acceptable as long as the compressor or turbine wheels don't touch the housing. Play on the length of the shaft is not acceptable though.

Yea I don't normally post in the powerstroke section, Hence I do not have one. I was looking for turbo information and forgot that I was no longer in the idi section. Never claimed to be the brightest candle.
