I know that the old 6.9 school buses had an Allison automatic option, I also just saw one for sale on ebay. How come nobody here has installed one of these on our trucks? Is it a size or weight issue? Just curious.:dunno

What model Allison?

School bus = Start, drive 300 ft - Stop - on and on and on mostly.

That would be an AT545... No OD, no locking convertor, not much better than a C6.

I drove a 72 passenger international loaded to capacity once and it had a 7.3 motor and manual trans, slowest bus i ever drove. I cant imagine a 6.9 with an auto in a full size bus, would be slower than molasses in January.
Isnt the Allison a 4 speed?

Allison from school bus = C6 + ******.....same thing but bigger (it has a fourth gear)
