94 not running right

We have a 94 psd that only seems to be firing on one side of the engine. When you crank it the volt meter stays on zero, and the check engine light comes on. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions? I figured if it was the cps the whole thing would be dead not one side.

Pull the valve cover off the dead side and verify the wiring is still hooked up.

Thank ya jd. The wiring pulg that goes into the valve cover gasket was burnt.
