Changed the belts and my tach. quit working. Coincidence?, or could I have knocked something loose? The tach. does get some movement at speeds above 60 mph.
It's the sensor right there on the IP gear cover, next to the oil fill port. Check for abrasion / missing insulation where the wires go into the sensor. You may just be able to reposition the lines and have it work again, or need to replace the sensor.
Thank you for your quick response! I will check that and report the findings. I think I remember my son disconnecting something near where you are speaking.
Macrobb, you were correct. Both wires are bare and were touching. O'reilley's carries a Dorman part# 926-323 and I will get one today. Thank you and all the other helpful guys that keep me rolling.
THANK YOU Macrobb, well I decided that trying to repair the exposed wires was futile, I purchased the 926-323 Dorman part and the tach. works perfectly
