7.3 max egts??

A buddy of mine has an 01 psd and it has a edge juice Additide chip. What's the Max the egts should be? He keeps it set on level 5 all the time and he's worried about the egts because it keeps on saying egt alert 1350. Is that too much?? Thanks!

Anything over 1200 is dangerzone IIRC & even that isn't good for extended periods of time

1250 EGT for maybe 3-4 minutes. 1350 EGT, I'd bet he's cracking the piston's. When he gets a catastrophic melt down, his words will be "@%$$$$$$$$" . Running like that, his exhaust manifolds have got to be glowing cherry red, they can crack from too fast of a cool down.

Idk why I showed him this thread this morning. It's a digital Gauge so I don't really think it's right it go way up by barely pushing the throttle.

i finally just got gauges installed and was surprised at what i saw. i knew that i have up pipe leaks and my intercooler boots were all oily..... with no tuner installed i could go all the way up to 1100 degrees going up a slight grade with little throttle. i have since put on all new boots, put on the walker btm muffler and gutted the cat. my egts now only go up to 900 degrees during the same scenarioand run about 200 degrees cooler all around. plus my boost went up to 18-19 psi where as it would max out at 15 before. i know the leaking up pipes are causing higher egts as the turbo is lazier. but that is getting remedied next week when the new tranny will get installed.
