In between the mechanical fuel pump and the fuel filter on my 87 6.9, Is what I assume is the inline fuel heater. Are there any ways of testing this thing, to see if it's actually working?

I figured it would be about like testing a GP with a test light, but wanted to see if there were other options..

Thanks
Gary

When the temp around the truck is 34 degrees or lower turn the truck on but don't start it, after a few seconds you should feel the in-line fuel heater getting warm if it works.

For now just make sure the wire has 12 volts when the key is on.

i've never heard of a factory inline, let alone anykind of fuel heater.

Mine had one. I thought all 6.9's did. The 7.3 has it in the filter head and I've since converted mine to that system. Have the old one laying around here somewhere I do believe.
