6.2?? What to look for??

OK my fire dept has got a really good deal through the DNR to get a used surplus truck, what they have are a bunch of the old 1 1/4 ton chevy trucks with 6.2 diesels.

What should we lookout for with the chevy diesel?? Any real major things to watch for? I know i've read about some glow plug issues. Any help would be great we just want to try to get a good one, and know one around the station has much experience with anything with a bow tie, heck almost everyone there has ford trucks

make sure the radiator is good and clean!!! and make sure no coolant in the oil!!!

run the truck, take off radiator cap, if there are bubbles its a sign of bad head gaskets or cracked heads.
when the truck is warm, take off the oil filler cap to see if there is smoke, the amount of smoke determines the amount of blow-by.
