This is a little bit pie in the sky but I'm curious so please don't poo-poo the idea yet.
In 2006/07 F-series are the electronic modules in the interior that run all the niceities in the high end packages VIN Locked or otherwise have to be initialized/registered to the PCM? How about the speedo cluster? If so, can they be matched to a different VIN/PCM with the full ford version of autoenginuity?
I'm working with a '06 xl crewcab basement model (not even Crusie Control but has upfitter switches and brake controller) and I'm investigating options to upgrade the interior to pretty much everything offered in 06/07.
I'm sure some will say just find a truck with the options I want and sell what I've got but that's not something I'm considering yet. My area has a bunch of salvage yards with these trucks in it and I'm willing to strip an interior completely (including wiring harnesses and window brackets) if that's all it takes. If a bunch of computer reprogramming is required, then maybe a different path might be considered but for now I'm interested in knowing what's possible and a general outline of what it might take. Anyone know if the high end trucks also added additional sound deadening or insulation?
How much of the XLT package wiring might cross the firewall that might require additional wiring? Cruise control function? Exterior Temp function? Any others?
