Helping the folks looking at pickups, how is the 6.0L gas engine for power & towing.
Now they won't be pulling alot of stuff. A few times a year we'll pull about 20,000lbs, no commerical towing, every day or week.
Wondering what experiences anyone's had with this engine.

Everyone I've talked to have said they will pull just about anything and have plenty of power. But they like their fuel tanks yo remain fully as they are always hungry lol.

We have one in our shop truck, Lots of power, but we've had a check engine light for about 2 years, and no one knows what the problem is.

We have an 08 2500 and love it. Bought it new and it now has 150,000 miles on the clock. Have had no problems and pulls great though we don't get close to 20,000lbs. We see between 14 and 16mpg, it all depends on your right foot, my wife gets better economy than I do.

I've got a 2012 6.0L, 6spd auto, and 3.73s. It struggled a little in the narrow mountainous back roads when I got a load of firewood (about 6500#s including the trailer) a few weeks back, but it did the job. Once on the bigger roads where you had momentum it did fine, on the interstate it cruised right along at 65mph no issue whatsoever. If I was to tow any heavier or any more frequent (or did mountains), I would have held out for 4.10s, or I would buy what I could and swap in 4.10s or even a tad higher (4.56s?). One thing that I need to get used to is the high RPM pulling...it likes to pull in lower gears at HIGH RPMs! It actually pulls the best over 4500RPM.

I only have 3500 miles, so still breaking in and need to flush fluids; but getting 8-9 towing, 12-14 city (empty), and upwards of 18 highway (empty). I don't regret the purchase.
