350 4 valve mack

ok a friend of mine asked me to look at his dump truck its a ch-600 mack with the 350 his (former) mechanic rebuilt the engine after it threw a rod. now it seems like it has maybe half power. im not real familiar with these engines. any help could be appreciated. im thinking maybe the fuel system is out of time of just the engine is out of time but it starts easy ang cranks fine just no power

Is it an electronic engine or a mechanical eng? actualy what year?

its a 96 model engine and it is mechanical

Does the manual shutoff move freely and is it properly adjusted. i set them up so there is a 1/8" gap between the bezel and the knob, therefore it is in the fully open postition while running. also try the anneroid diaphram if it has one some do some do not. also does it smoke or not when ya get into it?

I drive a 79 R model with an E6-350 that had way less power when it came back from the shop once with the injection timing too far retarded, at least that is what I was told.
