1991 7.3L Turbo - Oil and Filter?

This is a friend of mine's truck, just got it...Want to head down to wally world and get a filter and oil...Im figuring Rotella 15-40 (4 of the gallon size) and wondering if you guys get motorcraft filters there too? Part number?

2 1/2 gal jug of rotella and the same filter ur PSD uses...1995 :-D its an upgrade over stock and fits.

Yep, 4 gals of rotella & a PSD oil filter. Just look at the MotorCraft filters for a big one that has Powerstroke Diesel on it.

The filter I get for my '97 PSD at wally world is a motorcraft FL-1995....i guess it would be the same one?

4 gal or 2.5?

4 gall? thats a lot . i think i needed 9 qts, 10 qts for the PSD filter. 10 qts = 2 1/2 gallon?

yeah my brother just looked up on his online manual thing and it said the 7.3L in 1991 holds 10 qts...so a little more than that for the PSD filter would be maybe 11-12?

It never hurts to keep a spare gal or 2 of oil around, never know when you might need it.

Rotella is API CJ. You need CI or earlier. Not many places to get that... just in case you really care. Mainstream oil lacks what our builders intended there to be.

mine takes like 11.5qts, so close to 12 that i just overfill a little.

really, mine was full with 10 qts using the PSD filter.

Mel, i know it matters but i dont really worry about proper oil because with my luck it'll blow up soon . but seriously, around here finding anything but Rotella T, Delo and house brand (Napa "Fleet" 15w40) is all i can get.

i ran the motor a while to get everything warmed up and then let it sit so that everything drained back and wala, up to the full line.
