Old diesels just smoke on cold start because they do. I remember my mom's neighbor's work truck covering the entire neighborhood in diesel smoke when we had snow simply because it was cold. Mid 90's Dodge 3500 if you're wondering what it was.
Out of curiosity how heavy is that clutch pedal? I'm leaning more towards keeping mine with the E4OD simply because most clutches are bit too heavy for me to be comfortable with.
Mounting feet on the side and the box has slots for fuses and relays. About $20-25 from Amazon and I'm adding in the fuses and relays as I add things that go to them
I've got an added on box on the passenger side just behind the battery. A friend of mine had a spare piece of steel to make the bracket and it gives me electrical space to wire in anything I wish to add, like better gauges or a radio that works.
BR3 is right on the weather. I was crazy enough to mow today so that I would have tomorrow free. I'll probably try to get there around 2ish and hang around for the day.
What time are people planning on rolling in Saturday? Trying to figure out how best to plan my trip over. I'm only about 2 hours out and will gladly lend unskilled hands for set up if I get there while that's going on. Also, I should have my CB hooked up by then if I can figure out a good place...
Heh... I can read a calendar, really. Anyway I asked my boss about it and he went, "We aren't working it either. MY boss said it doesn't make sense to make you all come in when production isn't running so are you sure you want to use a vacation day for it?"
I'll be able to drop in Friday, unless the boss says no. Most of my workplace will be off the 5th so I figure I'll ask. Looking forward to meeting everybody.
Well I let the rig sit overnight with the batteries unhooked. It still shifts hard but not nearly as bad and at 2k. If I let off the throttle right before it shifts it's a nice smooth shift. One of the big rig truckers that makes daily deliveries to my work said it sounds like the torque...
@DrCharles That should read "switch my truck to straight drive." I posted from my phone and it was being stupid apparently.
@no mufflers I'm sure I've looked at it in the shop manual half a dozen times at this point but I'm not sure where to check the voltage on it.
So my 91 F350 with the E4OD has started shifting stupidly hard from 1-2 and not until 3k. I'm hoping that it's just a kinked line or something simple and inexpensive but a more mechanically inclined friend of mine at work said the transmission is probably going out. He's also offered to do the...
@Thewespaul Thank you. We can all tell it was well taken care of. @SebastIDIan I just went out and looked. Aside from the stat sticker the only thing behind either door is the "This truck does NOT have the ambulance package" notice. Although that's horribly faded. I'll probably get it repainted...
Speaking up to say hello to everybody. This past Sunday (3 February 2019) I got a new to me 1991 F-350 Dually RWD with the 7.3L IDI and 4EOD. It was an interesting 3 hour drive home given that the alternator was shot and had mismatched batteries but thanks to some good Samaritans and good...
Total IDI newbie chiming in. I'll probably try to drop by during the weekend with the new to me '91 F-350 I have now. I'm close enough that it's a day trip and I doubt my boss would really appreciate me taking off a week literally a week after the maintenance shutdown week, although knowing him...
