What is the safe operating range in RPMs for our 7.3 idi naturally aspirated engines? And does anyone know the redline on these engines? What kind of rpms are you turning on the interstate?
As you guys know the Vans didn't come with the tachometer in the cluster I would like to have a tachometer inside the cab what's the easiest and most cost-efficient way to have this done or to do this?
I have all the large wires connected is the little wire that you're speaking of the one that has the L shaped rubber connection? Would you also please chime in about the e40d transmission shifting wire connecting to the starter solenoid? I didn't know there was any relation there but it did fix...
There was a small red wire running to the opposite fat post on the starter solenoid under the hood. Now I moved it so that it's on the other fat post where the majority of the wires go to... it fixed my shifting issue (truck would only start in 2ND and have to be manually shifted to drive...

Yes white smoke a plenty when started the rig has 223k on it. I see fuel pooling in the top of the engine too. The previous owner just had ran it out of diesel too if this helps
I am new to the forum, this looks like a great place! I just got a 1995 IDI E350 when the engine is not at operating temp she takes full throttle and about 20-25 seconds of cranking twice to get her going.
And once she fires I have to feather the throttle to keep her alive until warm.
