It doesn't look like it's coming from the radiator hose but I'll snug it down a bit anyway.
If I have to replace the valley pan what needs to come out. Intake and IP?
I recently noticed some coolant pooling in my Valley pan. I don't seem to be losing very much but it's obviously something I need to address. Any thoughts on where it could be leaking from? Valley pan, intake, head ? This an 84 6.9 and from what I've read the VP actually covers some open...
Thanks. I've only had my 6.9 for less than a year but I'd say that a quart per 1k miles is about what it's been using. I just thought that was normal for these. I just changed to the T6 (5-40 synthetic) in hopes of easier cold starts but I'm a little nervous about it potentially causing leaks...
I don't know if it's still true but back when I had to ship large monitors and other bulky electronics, air shipping (next day or second day) really cut down on damage.
Interestingly enough another sticker on the inside of the drivers door says "This chassis-cab conforms to ......" followed by a bunch of federal regs. I think that's what threw me off initially. I'm just happy that it appears to be a standard sized frame.
The 84 f-250 I bought a few months back has a standard bed on it but was originally sold as a cab & chassis and had a utility bed on it for most of its life. . I've heard that the spring mounts are different on these but can anyone tell me what the other differences are?
Around here legitimately good deals on cars rarely stay up for long so if one has been up for a few weeks there is usually a good reason. Like others here I was looking for a year or so before I found the one for me. I may have overpaid ($3000 including a lightly used plow) but on the plus...
When I first got it my 84 seemed like it was running hot on the freeway on hot days but when I measured the temp using a laser thermometer at the upper radiator hose it was only about 185 with the dash gauge between A and L.. I also added a radiator cap with a temp gauge which confirmed the...
Turns out Cat had the version with stud terminals for $111 each! They didn't charge me a core either which is great since I have a use for the old ones. If anyone needs batteries check your Cat dealer.
Who carries Interstate? I see their trucks around all the time but never tried following one to see where it was going.
I've mostly used Walmart batteries in my cars and they always seem to last right to the end of the pro-rated warranty. Not a terrible deal but I want to do better in this...
I'm going to be upgrading the batteries in my 84 f-250 idi. From what I've read group 31s will fit this year so that's the size I'm planning to go with but I could use some advice on brand and model that you have been happy with.
If you're busy it's hard to save money doing scheduled maintenance yourself because you're giving up whatever you could be earning instead (or the value of your free time). Also you can't deduct your time but you can deduct whatever you pay someone else. IMHO the main value in doing it...
I'm not sure which model it is and there's too much grime on it to see any markings. I was hoping to do the fluids first and then take it to the car wash, clean it up, and check for fresh leaks. Fwiw Orillys lists ATF for both 1345 & 1356
The truck I just bought came with a Banks sidewinder "kit" in the bed. I haven't had time yet to go through the manual and confirm completeness but there is at least a turbo, muffler, some 3in exhaust pipe, air filter and gauges.
