Tire season - using balancing beads

Re: Note #2 for ugly off road tires. I used beads for a couple seasons with 35's on beadlocks (back when 35's were considered big lol). They worked very well until the constant airing back up when regaining pavement introduced enough moisture into the tire to clog up the beads. So I put 5...

Newb flywheel/clutch question for 94 IDIT w ZF trans

Thanks for the info on hydraulics and flywheel, as soon as it stops raining and snowing I will replace the mc and sc with a pre-bled unit from Summit racing (they have a store with huge warehouse in Reno, Nv and I usually get parts in one or two days). Then I will look at the block casting...

Newb flywheel/clutch question for 94 IDIT w ZF trans

I found the terrapin site. The TSB he has on there ends with the 1991 model. And I could not find any mention of the firewall failure for anything newer than "91. Maybe my search kung fu is weak! I won't be able to look at my "94 until tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed lol!

Newb flywheel/clutch question for 94 IDIT w ZF trans

Dumb question here! I need to replace the clutch master cylinder on my 94 IDIT (factory turbo and 5 sp ZF trans.). But when I look at rockauto etc... I'm confused as to which p/n is correct for my truck. I "think" the previous owner said it had a dual mass flywheel, but I'm not 100% sure...

    Help for a rookie

They used salt here for decades and there are plenty of rusted rigs to show for it. Kali switched over to some sort of liquid stuff a couple years ago after Nevada started using it. I don't know what type of compound it is. Sure leaves a white, messy crapola all over your car! I suspect it...

    Help for a rookie

IDI trucks are not so common in Norcal (on Craigslist at least, I live at Tahoe so pretty much had to do all my shopping online, it's too far to check out car lots). I spent over 2 months with a craigslist search engine and ended up going into central Oregon for the one I bought a few weeks...

    noob serpentine belt question

I can get the belt around the fan, you're right that's not hard. Been doing that with v belts my whole life. I just couldn't figure out the routing and since serpentine belts on other engines do not have to be put over the fan I was starting to wonder if the last install was incorrect. That...

    noob serpentine belt question

I've seen the diagrams, but I can't seem to figure out if the belt has to be wrestled around the fan first. Because when I removed the old squealing one I had to remove it over the fan, like you would with a v-belt fan belt, where you have to wrangle the belt between the fan blades and the...

    noob serpentine belt question

1993 IDIT When I went to replace my serp belt last night I had to pull the old belt around the fan, that is it encircled the water pump pulley. Is that correct? Cuz I could not figure out how to get the new one on after slipping it over the fan. I have searched but have not seen enough...

The Official "Show Us Your Ride" pictures of member's trucks thread.

Here is my new to me 93 IDIT. 164k Had to drive 10 hours to get it but I think it will be worth it. Sorry for all the reflections, the paint and body are in very good shape. 5sp, ac, cc, pdl, pw. Only flaws so far is squealing idler pulley and rear license plate lights don't work...
