GWBuffalo and Ford390Gashog,
Can you guys post your impressions on this clutch? It's been about a year, and it would be great to know how those clutches are performing, and if they are lasting a long time. How are they doing at towing? What kind of loads have you hauled?
Thanks in advance!
Ok, Guys. I'm back from Indiana and I finally had a chance to take my crossover pipe and y-collector off and look. I think I found at least part of the problem. It's very sooty where the y-collector bolts to the passenger side exhaust manifold (C). Pretty sure I'm not getting a good seal there...
How does one check for this? Don't tell me I have to pull the turbo off again!
Thanks for all the great suggestions guys. What awesome help! Propane, hills, lighter. I can't wait to get back at it. This wedding is in Leavenwort, Wa. though... Could be worse.
Got the pyro, I honestly was paying more attention to the boost and kinda didn't watch it. May have to give it more fuel.
Ok, I'll give that a try. Any way to check for leaks on the pressure side? Spray soapy water?
I agree, something seems wrong. Thanks for the help guys.
Sure wish I...
Thanks Cowman. It seems some turbos whistle and some just don't. Doubt there's any way I will hear whistle from mine with the exhaust unhooked.
I'm getting a little blowby out my dipstick tube at idle, but that goes away with increasing rpm. Btw, it isn't shown in the video, but I've got the...
Thanks, Doug. As a test, when I was going around the block, I put it in third at pretty low speed and floored the go pedal as well as pushed on the brakes to try to load the engine. Neither of these made my gauge read positive. Would you expect it to, or is this not enough load? Really...
Ok, so I finally got all of the components for my turbo system together and installed but it seems like there is a problem. The turbo is a factory system from a 93 or 94. I go to start it for the first time and I get nothing from the boost gauge, in-fact, when I rev it, it actually pulls vacuum...
I found this thread while trying to learn about timing. This disrespect is sure a shame. All the good advice on the site says to get in on icanfixall's timing meter rental. What's the status on this program? I'm probably going to need it after adjusting the screw on my IP for the new turbo.
I see what you're saying, but it is my understanding that the gas flow direction in a CDR is from the vent tube to the body/center hole. Like this.
Maybe I'm confused, but if you look at how it's set up on a N/A truck the body hole is smashed right up against the intake horn. I don't see...
Interesting. I'll check it out.
You sure? The gases should come from my cover plate into my CDR tube then out the "body hole" in the CDR and into the intake. Isn't this how they run on the factory setup?
I was thinking that it would be cleaner looking if the my CDR was mounted straight to my new intake housing rather than mounted remotely and plumbed in with hose. Is there any reason I couldn't drill a hole in the housing for the air flow, drill and tap two holes for the bolts and mount the CDR...
Thanks for the nice write-up Heath. Your posts saved me a lot of time. I just did this myself and found that the metal sleeves on mine were metric thread (M12x1.75). Could be the reason you were breaking your all thread. I had no problems using my factory bolts to remove the mounts. Just get the...
I mounted to probe in the log manifold just to the front of the number 8 cylinder.
It was 64 degrees outside, that's why it says 64. Hadn't started the truck yet for the day.
For everybody's information, the 3 bar map pressure sensor from Auberin's that is bundled with the boost gauge is...
Looks good bj! I got mine installed over the weekend. Our dashes are different. I have both a pyro and boost mounted in the change thing at the bottom of the dash.
Which wire do you tap into for the dimmer? That's the only part I didn't hook up.
Here are some pics.
I recently bought a factory 093 ATS turbo setup and I have a few questions.
1)Apparently this kit had been stored in a barn somewhere and the inside of the turbo is pretty dusty and has some spider webs. A friend said to spray that all out with brake parts cleaner, I'm just a little...
Depending on how long you have to wait, we might be installing around the same time. I'm hoping to install my turbo over labor day and the gauges would go on then too. I don't know how similar the dash is on your '93 to my '88, but I'm thinking of sticking both a pyro and boost in the little...
