At the power level you are looking at you would need to go p pump, current limit on db4 is about 180cc pump. I have one on my truck right now. Head and rotors for a db4 are currently almost impossible to get unless you find a used one laying around somewhere.
One thing that makes it hard to say all engines should be at a specific timing is you would have to assume all the parts between engines where the same. The marks on the balancer could be off either in manufacturing or have moved in there rubber mounting causing it to require a different...
Yes the systems are charged while not running, but they are charged with a volume reading not a pressure reading. Ex a system will be charged with 2 lbs of charge and system final pressure is not even looked at.
All that matters is how the running pressure vs temp out dash compare in order to...
I am not trying to be disrespectfull, but you cant always tell by sound if it is working or not. What was the voltage when you checked it? What do you have your timing set at? Are you sure the throttle shaft was not bent to?
Sorry for all the questions but there is to much missing info...
How have you determined the cold advance isnt working? Did you use a timing light to verify timing change when trying to operate cold advance? Did you put the cover back on right after removing it?
If all else fails you just get this kit in the 24" long and just use standard adaptor fittings to connect to block.

timing is set to 1100 oclock position so all pistons are down in the bores as to not possible bend any valves while torqing them down which is possible if the lifters are full of oil. They may not leak down fast enough to avoid hitting the piston.
Important Information!!!!
This is both to vent and to inform people of the poor customer service of a company. I had been up to this point doing business with FORT DODGE TRANSMISSION in Ft Dodge, IA but I will no longer.
This all started when my truck broke down on me and had to pull my...
I would still recomend silvolite pistons they have a much better alloy they are made out of, and a tri-coat on them will make them even tougher.
I would highly recomend updating the cam at this time to something more turbo friendly. One from typ4 on this forum for lower rpm torque, or a J2 cam...
balance rotating assembly
no need to decompression unless using custom turbo system
aftermarket cam either J2(higher reving) or Type4(low end grunt)
valve springs that give about 100 lb open cant remember the part number right now.
new roller lifters(best quality you can get not bushed)
No...
Do not remove the timing gear cover!! If you do it is hard to see the marks to line it back up. Remove old pump install new one line up the mark on the IP to the housing, this will get it close enough to get motor started. After that will need a timing meter to set correctly.
Those look great!
If you think about it the 7.3 caps where an improvement of the 6.9. The returning fuel had to flow around the injectors on the 6.9 design. By putting the newer style on the 6.9 it should improve the return performance.
With everyone trying to put more fuel and...
