Great set up. I had a stock '94 IDI Turbo. I would consider looking at adding some heat shield to your intake pipe where it crosses the top of the motor to keep the incoming air cooler. Maybe it won't make enough difference but cooler air giving a better fuel burn is always better. I second...
My experience with cracking the system for any length of time is it needs to be flushed then run the vacuum pump. I changed the condenser on my '94 after seeing it had a hole in it and did not flush it. Several months later my compressor seized up so bad it smoked the serpentine belt. New...
Sorry didn't see the CPS was changed right away. But it could have been a bad one. Wasn't uncommon back in the day.

My '94 never had a belt issue. Doing the belt wasn't hard either. 15MM socket and a breaker bar is all you need plus the routing diagram if your memory isn't so good.
Another vote for the Delo 400 15w-40. I had a '94 for 14 years. Started out with Rotella for a bit with no problems but switched to Delo after a year or so and never had an internal engine issue.
I'm late to this party... first I hope your dad is alright. Addressing the monitor i just got an Edge CTS2 MONITOR and the rest of June is you buy a CTS or CTS2 you can get a free EGT probe among other options. Plugs into the OBDII port, suction cup mount for the windshield and fully...
Get scanned. If you still have the EGR the valve could be carboned up. Pull it and clean it. Replace with new seals from Ford. About $10. I was having rough idle problems last November especially on a cold start and it was 3-4 of the injectors going south. Had all eight done with the upgraded...
Besides Motorcraft oil filter and cap be sure to change the fuel filters with Motorcraft only as well. The water seperator filter on the frame is really critical for the injectors. Every 10K miles on those. What motor oil you using? I'm using Dello 5W-40 full synthetic. Rotella T6 is another...
That is pretty cool. Although here in Idaho, I've never been on a toll road or bridge. Spokane, WA had the Maple Street bridge toll booth for a long time but we had never gone through it. It's gone now (the toll booth).
It all depends if your drag racing or towing. Drag racing, yes the auto would out perform the stick for all the reasons stated. Since I don't care about drag racing I'll stick with the manual since mines a daily driver, towing rig and spend a lot of time in the woods hunting and fishing.
The 4 wheel drive helps on slick roads but is not foolproof. Since you have the ZF5 then use the tranny to help you slow down on ice and snow. I always slow down early and I down shift reasonably. Hit too low a gear and you'll lock them up. The front axle locked in and in 4HI can help keep all...
I agree that our trucks will start but they will start easier when plugged in with less strain on the starting system. I know this from experience. When my truck sits in the cold all day at work or hunting it always starts but I like it plugged in while sitting in the garage for a couple of...
The usual good maintenance along with the plugs and batteries will be enough. I use Power Service in my fuel up here in north Idaho in the winter and we get below zero so that will be fine. My dad drives an '02 dually and he doesn't have any problems with snow other than the outside duals have...
