Interesting Situation with a 6.9 liter IDI, seeking advice

Can't open the links, but a real, numbered temp gauge should be your next step. The fan coming on at all?

    timing a new IP

An IP wrench makes things really easy, too, as you can snug things down a bit and make small adjustments. You can get one here, which is run by Freebird01 on this board, iirc. That plus the above took me about 15 minutes when I did it.

    Tru-Cool Max Transmission Cooler

Thanks for the info. Ordered mine last night. Probably overkill for what I need, but what's on there now is nuthin' but roadkill.

Interesting Situation with a 6.9 liter IDI, seeking advice

I run Rotella and notice it takes significantly longer for the truck to burn quart #2 than it does quart #1, i.e. I don't worry about getting the level back up to the "Full" mark. I've read posts from others who have experienced the same thing. I tried Delo once and seemed like it leaked more...

    T-case just exploded....great.

Everything on car-part.com that shows anything shows 1356 for 88. You should be in business.

    T-case just exploded....great.

I thought by 88 they were 1356s but could be wrong. At any rate, the tail housings are longer on the pickup 1356s (i replaced the 1345 in mine with a 1356 from a bronco) and have slip yokes, so unless you can somehow splice the 2 together, you're in for some driveline work. The 56 is generally...

    Oil Cooler Pressure Valve

Good ol' Windows Paint has gotten me out of a jam or 20, if not in the prettiest fashion. Ships with every Windows PC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_xOwE_1grY

    Trans Discussion

On the C6, you'd have to stumble into a helluva deal to get the trans plus an aux box for anything less than an e40d rebuild. I like my setup okay but would have just done the ZF if I had to do it over. Even with a rebuilt GV unit, all the money and time spent gathering up odds and ends could...

    body panels

I'd just do the whole side unless it's maybe just a small area over the wheel well. Even then you want to make sure there's nothing coming behind it. Any major repair is also hard to make really straight in my admittedly limited experience. The LMC panel I got for my 70s truck is definitely...

    Fuel Milage

Lots of things can play into it. Like Green said, also timing, and a good cool source of air. I removed the Banks box setup and just stuck a filter right off my turbo, over the engine as a temporary rig. My mileage puttering around went from 13-14 to 10.5-11.5. I'll find out if it's a...

How much do beds go for up north?

In eastern MA, where I lived until this past summer, there were really no 80-86 trucks left to use the beds, '87-ups were around and could be cheap, but they were far from nice, esp. compared to what you would find in TX. It was over a grand to get a nice '87-'96 bed from a vendor that stocked...

    65% Price Reduction......

Looks like a candidate for Terrapin Mfg., forgot his screen name. Is $140 really the retail-is-for-suckers price on that? Damn.

    Talk me Down!

The IP will often suck enough fuel through on its own - I've run for a few miles before realizing that I'd inadvertently hit the fuel pump switch and my electric pump wasn't even running.

icanfixall is renting them out: http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?t=54083 OR A Ferret adapter - I believe this is the one I have - can't verify because it's loaned out. Add any inductive timing light with programmable advance & RPM readout. Look for a thread by OLDBULL8 on it's...

Precious egos? All I said was, let's see what the thing yields in the end and judge at that point, and I got an excruciatingly dull and meat-headed lecture about dynamometers, though I should be flattered you took some of your expensive time to deliver it unsolicited. I only posted because I...

    BIG DYNO DAYS #'s

Actually, one post reads, "looks like there isn't much gain from the rest of the work." That to me seems like another way of saying, "there's no room for improvement." So I offered up that in fact there is something to gain. Where in my posts does it say anyone's opinion is invalid?
