My search for another idi to add to the collection continues. I've found a few that were close but all either too expensive or auto or 2 wheel drive. Closest I got was the van I had posted about but it had a blown head gasket. Selection process is rough in pa.

So I'm going to attempt to look at this on my three day weekend. 85 F250, 4 wheel drive, 4 speed. I have a t18 in my one gasser and I love that transmission to death and since this is more to have a second idi then any real purposeful use for it I'd at least be getting plenty of parts for 700$..

I just hate when stuff has not been registered. He has the title, and I know I'll need to get a tailgate and fix some things (like I can't even tell if it has brake lights) but it looks to surprisingly not have a ton of rot and more just surface rust and dings. Just need to try and eyeball when I go to see it if there is anything so far gone that it wouldn't be fixable for inspection and make sure the frame didn't get messed up while plowing and if everything checks out maybe I'll have a new project.

Yeah haha as goofy as some of it looks I can tell they at least maintained it some and cared if things weren't working properly

In my experience, never a plow truck.

Salty, rusted, driveline abused trucks with worn out front ends and quirks in the frames.

But that's just what I have observed in them.

I can't say that I'm not worried it might be a pile of junk, but in talking to the guy I don't know that it got used much at all. Owner gave it to him to keep or get rid of he didn't care, and the guy just decided he didn't want to keep it.

And someone driving by gave him 1000$ for it to sell it to him today and he couldn't say no. Screw it. Guess I'm meant to have the ones I got and nothing else haha.

It's just irritating because for one my car has over 200k and outside of commuting is useless. Two "Fred" is one of two 4 wheel drive trucks I have but I don't "do" anything with it because it's was my grandfathers truck and I wanna keep it mint like it is. Probably gonna do antique or classic plates cause it only goes to the drive in movies and stuff in summer.

My idi is 2 wheel drive and gigantic and as useful as it is sometimes you need 4 wheel drive. Hank is 4 wheel drive, but it has a cap on it and sometimes I need that.

Basically the wood burner won't feed itself, and I can't use a car to get wood or a truck that even if I drove it in crap weather and bad places is a short bed with a smaller suspension so their out. I've been using the idi and it does awesome but things are getting muddy and we're cutting further down the hill so 2wheel drive is getting iffy. I don't want to take the cap off hank but it might be the best option because my buying a wood hauling 4 wheel drive beater 3/4 ton or higher is not going so swell..

Having 4 vehicles when two of them are essentially non applicable is funny. It at least got the woman to approve my hunt for one more.
