It didn’t turn out good at all. The cluster itself is way more complex, and the blue is way too dark, it was supposed to be sky blue… and the orange was too dark for this…

I did away with the bulb covers, much brighter now, but not too bright. But it looks wrong…

I just wish the blue had turned out…

The whole day hasn’t gone very well…

The 'Ol One-Ton looked on silently while I fabbed up a couple of brackets to hold a few beehive combs on the hive while The Girl checks things out...suited up like the Pillsbury Doughboy in her bee suit...

Here is the raw material...salvaged from the last place I worked...

Here is how it got cut up....

And here is how it got shaped...there is a left and right side....I'll get a pic of what they do presently...

And another view of the (almost) finished product...

Yeah...the welds could have been nicer...but it was a small flux-core machine...and I was in a hurry to get it together and work out the details later...

The last pic is what the brackets are supposed to do...

It started yesterday. Actually it started not long after I installed my Powermaster starter. Every once in a while, I would just get a click when I tried to start the engine. I thought there was a bad spot in the starter. It was happening a little more often so I was thinking about a starter replacement. Yesterday, I went to pay H&R Block to tell me how much the government stole from me last year. On the way home, I stopped by my garage for just a couple of minutes. It'll never happen again, but there was no starting the engine. Just clicking. I was messing around, saying four letter words, trying to get the engine started. I tried jumping the fender mounted starter solenoid from hot to the little terminal. Nothing. Then, I noticed that the starter button was smoking when I tried to use it. Obviously that was no good. I finally managed to use a couple of long screwdrivers to jump across the solenoid and the engine started right up. Well it was on to Napa today to remedy the issues. All morning long, I kept thinking that it doesn't make much sense for both the button and the solenoid to go bad at the same time so I decided to experiment a little over lunch. I dropped my starter down, unwrapped the electrical tape that I cover the wires with (just in case), and I could short across the terminals on the back of the button and the starter would engage. So the solenoid is good, I just wasn't getting a good contact on it with the positive power. I went into Napa and bought two starter buttons so I can keep one in the truck for the next time that it happens. Installing the new button was about a 5 minute fix.
I stopped into a gas station on the way and got pretty excited for a few minutes. A guy came in and commented that he has a bunch of parts for my truck. He wanted $500 for a 85 that used to have a 6.9in it. No rust, 4X4, ZF5. Everything was there except for the engine. By now, I was thinking that this was a good one to buy, drop an engine in, and resell. Then he said two things that made me unexcited. He lost the title and the truck's still in Texas. No deal for me. He seemed a little windy about it anyway so I wasn't fully buying the story. Oh well.

2wd c6 off Facebook marketplace that said recent rebuild works well. The output shaft turns in park
remove the extension housing and take a peek...then remove the pan and check out the linkage...

I am curious at what would be up with it...

I was just at my place last Saturday...I coulda hooked you up with whatever you needed if I had a little advance notice...

Agreed I don’t trust it at all, going to rebuild it myself. Last thing I want is it to kick the bucket at a time I need it to be working. Looking for additional 2wd c6s too.

I saw you added some more - thanks and yea something has to be up with the mechanical locking ring would be my first guess but the initial suspicion with this trans is the amount of play in the output shaft didn’t sit well with me.

is this up-and-down play or forwards-and-backwards play or both..?

as the unit is sitting on the floor (on the pan) and you grab the shaft and try to move it...?
I think it was both, I have it in the car now because I need it in there to mock everything up

Gmrs has replaced the cb, cleaner sound, the four wheel crowd uses them.

Well you made me Google GMRS, and a wealth of info. Probably spent over and hour reading through the various sites etc...

They work on a higher frequency range.

10-4 Good Buddy, catch you one Flip Flop.
