Yea, I know, I know.....I've got 3 idi's already. Two need rebuilt though and the other is in a truck. Plus they're even heavier. I recently aquired an inline 4-cyl 4.5L JD turbo diesel. These things are rated anywhere from 80-150HP from Deere. I've got some questions about the motor AND about doing an actual swap as well. Glow plug relay/controller questions. Need help!
I just need to know the correct size and/or amperage fuse to run to POWER the Glow Plug relay. Normally the fusible links that run from the starter relay to the GPC.- Thefarmboy21

Starter relay test/replacement.....part number????
I think my relay has two small posts...so one is just a jumper to ground though? Anyway, I'll check the clutch switch....I always forget about those pesky things. How do I bypass it OR change to a switch? The key switch I'm not sure about....I'm not in the truck enough to know. It's been...- Thefarmboy21

Well I just thought that if none of the glow plugs were functioning (no power) the WTS light and buzzer wouldn't stay on the full time. That what everyone says is a tale take sign of burnt glow plugs so I'm confused still? Lol. All the other info helps a lot though. I'll check it with a...- Thefarmboy21

I've got an 8.7, 6.9 truck (has the 88+ GP system) and the fusible link from the starter relay to the GP relay burned. So I have a few questions to get it fixed.....this truck has been reworked a time or two I think. Fusible link had already been replaced with two green 14ga? Link wires. 1...- Thefarmboy21

Starter relay test/replacement.....part number????
Trying to sort out some wiring issues with my 87 and one is that it won't crank by the key. It will crank if I cross the posts on the relay, so I assume it's bad but someone else said it may not be.....so how can I test it? Also does anyone have the part number? Burnt fusible link and bad solenoid???
Ok, guess I've got a lot of testing to do. What can I use for the fusible link wire to check it AND then replace it when I find the problem? Mine are burnt really bad. And where's the best place to get a new relay?- Thefarmboy21

Ok so neither problem would have cause the other? Because they happened at the same time as far as I know....unless they both went bad sitting for a few months. But I don't think so.
