    3/4 ton or 1 ton will be much more stable/safer towing that kind of wieght than a 1/2 ton. Even if you get an underpowered older diesel it will still tow better and be less of a strain on the truck. I would stay away from small blocks in those trucks though. Either go big block or diesel.     Me neither. From what Ive read online figures are around 6-8mpg with a load and 10-12 empty. The old 7.3 would get 15ish around town and high teens on the highway, with or without your average load. The worst I ever got was 10, and that was carrying a 28ft brick down the freeway at 70-75mph out...

    I do not know but Ive been reading up on these trucks since I got it and it seems pretty easy to fix. Ive used 5th quite a bit on purpose in the little bit of driving Ive done, iin order to see if it had any problems going into gear. We'll see. And thx for the kind words everybody!

    Starting Issue

    Ok just tried jumping the fender solenoid with the screwdriver...nothing except a click. Sounds like time to replace starter. Going to get one now. So how many bolts are there for the starter? I see the two at the bottom, Im assuming theres another PITA one up top somewhere???

    Just clicks nothing else. Checked a cleaned all connections and still nothing but clicking. Starter looks like it could be replaced. Do our trucks have seperate solenoids or are they on the starter?? I asked because my old foxbody mustang had a seperate solenoid just like the one in this pic...
