    6.2 overhaul

Towcat, do you mean measurements from the widest points on the frame? the hummer engine is jammed in there pretty good. Currently, there's no hummers in the shop with the engines removed but we do have some engines sitting around, I'll measure those. Usually they pull and replace the motor in...

    6.2 overhaul

Do appreciate the advice guys! :D Of course, the final course of action hinges on the condition of the block/crank/heads I have now. The truck runs well, so I imagine the big parts are in good shape. We shall see, I just picked up a digital camera so when the project starts, there'll be...

    6.2 overhaul

I looked into the AMG engines, Uncle Sugar's price is 10K a pop. (drop in unit, I/P & nozzles included) the center-mount turbo setup from a Hummer/van looks like it's fit the 73-87 trucks nicely.

    6.2 overhaul

(quote) Thanks for the compliments, them idea's will get ya into trouble... Whatever parts you decide on using, if you're looking for big power splayed main caps are a good idea. Kennedy sells them, I'd recommend them since I've personally seen 2 6.5's trow the crank out of the oil pan from...

    6.2 overhaul

I really like that rig ya got Dieseldummy, gives me idears! (don't tell my g/f) well, I did some more research and may stick with the '82 heads is they check out OK. I imagine the course thread injectors could be calibrated w/ a higher pop pressure.

    6.2 overhaul

Towcat, The 6.5TD in your service truck looks *nice*. It looks stock too! ;Sweet Do you have a TH400 behind it? I'm still torn between using 6.5TD bits or going with the banks kit. It'd be cool to low-buck it by using junkyard parts but finding them may be a pain. Most...

    Upper intake carbon

The sender is in the same place as any chevy V8, rear driver's side. It looks like a metal can. Don't do what I did and get the Autozone/Sch(m)uck's/Kragen unit. spend the extra few bucks for the GM one if ya want it to last more that 2 months. You can also just get a decent aftermarket guage-...

    6.2 overhaul

Do any of you guys run the Banks sidewinder kit on your 6.2s? I'm gearing up to completely overhaul the chevy, stem to stern. What do y'all think of the sidewinder kit? worth it? I've had the truck since '95, and the turbo been on my mind since then! ;p ;p What it has...

What should I look out for in a 6.2/6.5?

I think Ford offered an N/A DI 7.3 as well as a turbo IDI 7.3 in late 94 but may be mistaken. cookoo What year(s) were the 7.3 DI turbo non intercooled? As far as the jeep thing goes, the 6.2 is so close in size to a SBC it makes for an easy swap and above all it's *cheap* (compared to other...

    Starting and Exhaust issues

Is the controller on a 6.9 round with 5 or 6 pins? I saw one at the junkyard on an older Ford and it looked very similar to the 82-84 GM setup... tbirdfiend281, mine did the same thing- it was the alternator. cookoo Here's why (Hayne's helped here) The preglow is dependent on the...

    Upper intake carbon

Holtzer1, You have the C-code motor, right? w/the EGR valve on it? Try to find a J-code (no EGR) intake and swap it on. 10 bucks at a u-pull and good for a few HP anyway. :D Either way, take the manifold off and clean it with dish soap and a bottle brush. I know it's your DD but pulling the...

    Starting and Exhaust issues

Check this out, it's made by Redarc Electronics in Austraila. I'm sure you could make one like it out of radioshack/fry's parts. ;Sweet No flame suit necessary, maybe some gloves though- I still have no hair on my right index finger from an ether "incident"! :D :D G'day!

    Starting and Exhaust issues

Man, just be careful w/ that stuff! My dad always told me to only spray it w/ the engine cranking- so it dosen't just load up one hole and (violently) break something, what do y'all think?
