I guess I'll throw my truck into the arena. It is a 90 that started life as an F250. I converted it to a 1 ton. Changed the rear axle and front hubs so it is a true dually now. Extended cab. Auto trans, 2wd. Approx 104500 original miles. Everthing is in good shape. Radiator, hoses, water pump...- duaneboggs

NEED LOWER STEERING SHAFT COUPLER
If you are referring to the coupler that is at the very end of the steering shaft and slides onto the splines on the gearbox, there is a kit available to rebuild it. It has about 6 or 7 little pieces and a new rubber boot. As long as the housing isn't damaged that should be all you need. Same...- duaneboggs

Cab Movement
I don't believe there should be any front to back movement, the clearance between a factory bed and the cab is what...a couple inches? Pros and cons of a dually?
One thing not mentioned is that if you blow a rear tire on a dually you can kiss the fender goodbye. Had that happen to me yesterday and it absolutely destroyed the drivers side. Now I get to spend several hundred dollars fixing it again. Makes a flatbed tempting. Duane- duaneboggs

Did I damage my E4OD?
The trip to get the tractor was a one shot deal, I don't anticipate having to tow this heavy again. I very well may get the updated pump and seal and pull the trans to put them in. I wish I had had 4.10 gears in it but again I don't think I'll need them now. Definitely will be installing a...- duaneboggs

E4OD Lockup Mod
Ok, I wasn't sure. After I asked the question I thought about it some more and decided that I would have probably stalled the engine or slipped the TC clutch anyway or broken something else. Thanks for the answer. I will make the mod and just not use it down that low. Duane- duaneboggs

Did I damage my E4OD?
Well I appreciate the opinions, I guess I will hope for the best for now. I'll pull the pan and service it soon and see if there is any debris in there. One more question. Will it hurt any of the seals or other soft parts if I switch to synthetic fluid when I do service it? Duane- duaneboggs

I don't think it was coming out of the fill tube, because I actually checked it while it was leaking and I couldn't see anything on the dipstick. The most fluid I put in at any one time was a little over 2.5 quarts to get it back to full. The OD light never flashed and after I got over the last...- duaneboggs

No, if anything its cleaner than before I started due to how much I put in. However it never got burnt smelling one way or the other. Nor is it funny colored. Looks like normal trans fluid should. My big concern was the leak. Did I fry the seal or do these things leak when they get that hot...- duaneboggs

E4OD Lockup Mod
With this mod can the converter remain locked in first gear for pulling? I just pulled 20000lbs over the Rockie Mnts. and was at times down to 10 mph for a mile or two. If I could have kept the converter locked I assume it would have helped the trans temp. Duane- duaneboggs

Did I damage my E4OD?
Well I made it home from Utah to Oklahoma with my 20000lb load. However, I fear I may have hurt the trans. I had to pull 3 very long steep passes and of course everything got hot. I do not have a trans temp gauge. My coolant temp never went over 230 and if it tried I pulled over to let things...- duaneboggs

Couple questions and comments
Mr. T, I will go check that right now. Thanks for that suggestion. I replaced the air filter earlier today, it didn't look terribly dirty but quite a bit of dirt came out of it when i knocked it against the bumper. Duane- duaneboggs
