I changed the optic bump back to stock setting and my timing dropped down from 11.1 to 10.0 and i relearned the TDC off set at 6.1 then in the time set mode the base timing was about 4.5 and setting code 1214 TDC offset so i turned the ip back some and got it at 3.5 with the actul timing at...
I made a 3.5" down pipe for my 6.5 i started with a used duramax exhaust and a 6' straight pipe and made it 3.5" straight piped from the turbo to back side of the tire and its not loud at all with the turbo!:D
the timing will be advanced when the engine is cold.
I let mine warm up to 75c ect on the scanner and then exit engine data and go in to time set then the des will go to 0.00 and set the actual about 3.5 degrees timing
then you can do the koko (throttle to the floor key on for 45 sec then key...
I'm wondering if the optical senser bump advanced the TDC offset some but not the base timing because its still at 3.5 in the time set mode
But when i exit the time set mode my base (actual) timing and desired are at 11.1 i read it was to be about 8.5 degrees:rolleyes:
:dunno Will Optical bump change TDC offset if relearned?
I set my actual timing at about 3.5 in time set mode
then i have 11.1 desired and 11.1 actual timing
and the snap-on mt2500 scanner reads the TDC offset as 5.9 i've read that this scanner reads different and that -1.94 reads 5.4
so...
Ok i found the problem the valve in the advance piston stuck due to
varnished fuel or contamination from moisture sitting in the
bottom of the pump.
I had to take the injection pump back off to get to it and the
advance linkage was moving but the valve in the advance piston was
stuck...
OK I checked the volts at the connector that plugs in to the
stepper motor with the key on 12v, 4v, 12v, 4v, then with
the engine running all four have about 7volts but both the
stepper motors i have do not move with the key on or
running. The advance linkage will move about 3/8"
I'm north of wilmington 10mi in Hampstead.
I checked the timing with a Tech II and the TDC offset was -2.44 so i moved the pump some and got the actual timing to average 3.5 going from 2.8-4.1 and a desired timing of 11.1 and i got the TDC offset the land on -1.94 it had a range from...
I got a snap-on 2500 and set the timing close to 3.5. It was changing from 3.0-4.0 i guess the stepper motor does that.
actual inj timing was about 11.0 and desired inj timing about 3.5
I set the TDC offset to -5.4 I read that the snap-on scanner reads different and that -5.4 is really -1.94...
i change the stepper motor. but that didnt change the smoking
i moved the ip to the drivers side 3/16" and that helped the smoking a lot but its missing and smoking from 2000rpm and up.
does anybody have a tech 2 scaner near wilmington NC?
I have a 97 1500 6.5 turbo and i've changed the injection pump because it stopped running with the old one. Now it runs with the newer pump but its blowing white smoke and has code P0216 -- Injection Timing Control Circuit
What is Injection Timing Control Circuit? And what can i do about it?
I made it home from the trip before it died. i'm so lucky
I changed the fuel filter after it died
then i primed it and checked the fuel press its 5psi and got good flow when cranking
