HA. that explains it then.. well ok then not beating it.. it is a bit on the highside a tad.. is that at normal operating temperature? 220F... thats just over boiling, i dunno if thats much to worry about- 8v-of-fury

Any Ideas for cool air inlet?
You could use Aluminum dryer ducting. The shiny aluminum will resist the heat waves, and is also readily available at most hardware stores for cheap.- 8v-of-fury

so from what you telling me, it would be best to find a 6.9 from 1985.5 and up. lol I don't think the turbo would be worth all the extra trouble right now.. its just a work truck.. The truck has a 3 spd automatic C6.. BADD transmission for anything over 60km/h lol. It sits around 3600-4000...- 8v-of-fury

Ok gf's mom says she wants to keep the truck (sentimental value of her late husband and all) and I told her this motor is as good as a boat anchor..and that it will need to be pulled and either rebuilt or replaced.. So we are going to check in to shops around here to see what it would cost to...- 8v-of-fury

I don't see how there could have been issues when putting the cooler back together. I cleaned up all the surfaces where the o-rings sit, lubed them real good, put the small ones in the headers to avoid pinching, and pressed it together with a clamp and had both ends pop together. Uh oh guys.. big problems.. Not only did very little come out of the pan it was mostly water.............. And alot came out of the rad! but it was mostly oil!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE RAD CONTENTS WERE THICKER THEN THE OIL PAN.....:mad: What have i done? I can pretty much guarantee that...- 8v-of-fury

This is true.. but if i put in to much oil to begin with, then it would have all gotten frothed.. and been lighter and possibly easily sucked up by the (im sure never serviced) CDR?? I'm pretty sure what all came out the first time was less then 10 qts.. I mean my pan is.. hmm.. like 12 qts...- 8v-of-fury

:sly:sly:sly Ok i just went out and checked mine.. and it was like 31" tip to bottom of yellow handle.. 34-35 total length. Well I did put in like 15 litres of oil total.. and if it is not getting in the rad it must be burning it. It has lost enough oil to start a bad knocking.. meaning...- 8v-of-fury

CDR?
Wouldn't putting in a road draft tube, not hinder oil consumption.. but just aid in polluting? I mean i guess its a good way of getting your engine to stop sipping from its own oil.. but bad for the earth LOL- 8v-of-fury

well i never though to get a real gauge because i don't suppose it is lying.. adding more oil will cause the gauge to come back to center. LOL I guess I may have to go get one eh? A cheapie is better then a stock anyway you cut it. lol Well I am not having a problem with the coolant going...- 8v-of-fury

i suppose it is possible the injectors are causing a knock.. a knock that wasnt there before i started anything.. but possible.. Not trying to be a ****, or anything. I have no idea of how many miles are on the injectors or when they were replaced. The thing about the knock is.. it goes away...- 8v-of-fury

Hmm.. I will measure the dipstick tonight after work, do you know the total lengths of either the two lengths of stick? Frothing the oil? would that cause it to turn white and scummy? I doubt the CDR was maintained.. at least in the last 5 years it has been driven by my gf's family. It is...- 8v-of-fury
