30mpg has already been done, I think Mel's kid has gotten 29. I got 32 with a Turbo 6.5. This truck will be lighter and have a better finale gear ratio.- 1800joedaddy

IDI swap thread. Post UP!
Just looking for ideas and inspiration. I've read everything and put that with what I've seen personally and think a 2wd 1/2 DD 6.9 getting 30mpg is possible. I just inherited my daughters 76 and it seems a fitting candidate.- 1800joedaddy

6.9/7.3 N/A into a 76' 1/2 ton.
DD project, most likely will stay N/A. I can handle the suspension and swap but am curious what I will need to power the engine. From what I remember I need a hot signal to the IP and thats it, other than the GP relay which I'll mount on a momentary switch. Anything else? :dunno- 1800joedaddy

DUUUUUUDE! It's also 4300 bills! In an age when you can buy a low milage running 5.9 12v with trans for $1500 and do the swap for less than a grand double the power and longevity why would you spend that kind of cheese? cookoo- 1800joedaddy

This was my 1st Ford IDI and my favorite diesel ever. I sold it to by a PSD :puke: The lesson I learned is don't believe everything you hear in Diesel Forums. The truck on the trailer was another IDI project.- 1800joedaddy

I sell 88-98 chevy/gmc parts to deer freindly customers via the net. So a guy calls me last week and asks if I got this or that and he tells me he's got a 91' 6.2 w/a bad 700R4. Question about 6.2 Chevy
If it says 88k it probably means 188 or 288. Check the brake pedel, if it's worn through the pad it's 288, if it's 1/2 way it's 188, if its just the grooves worn it's 88. These are tried and true but not perfect ways to tell. another way is to look on the title, over 100k will say "Excededs...- 1800joedaddy
