Thinking about getting true dual 2.5 exhaust ran on my truck. Not sure what mufflers yet if any. My question is will I gain or lose anything by having true duals? Thanks!

Yeah you should notice a difference for sure then.

Its quite amazing how much opening up the exhaust helps on these thing!

true duals means no Y pipe. Left bank stays in its pipe, and right bank stays in its pipe. they dont come together, unless you add some sort of H or X pipe between them to balance the pressures.

straight piped with only 2.5" exaust will not be might get a ticket loud, it will be garunteed a ticket from 4 blocks away loud. my guess is it will sound pretty raspy too. I have 3.5" ID pipes on now... too raspy and loud, gettin 5s soon for the lower tone /decibles.

What I meant by my first post was asking him if hes still running the stock y pipe. I see in his signature hes done some exhaust work already.

What I meant though was eliminating the y pipe and going to true duals will help with power and fuel economy.

Guess I need to watch how I word things.:dunno

Just to warn you , n/a motors are really really obnoxious with dual straight pipes, it is kinda cool at first but you will get tired of it after a while.

let me half ass highjack this thread. i wanted to ask this on here anyway.

Q: I am having dauls ran on my truck, My exhaust guy quoted me 225.00 for 2.5" all new fronm the manifolds back out in front of each rear tire, For 3" he said 300.00 for the same setup.. Either way i'm planning on running one chamber cherry-bombs:slycookoo;Sweet.. Anyway do you guys think 3" pipe is worth it, considering i'm running true dauls with an h-pipe, i dont realy see if 3" is needed...

Sorry for highjacking, but you can probly use this info aswell.. thanks

I have no muffler on my rig and I seriously wear ear plugs when I drive it. Super loud.

How is he going to get over to the driver's side to get in front of the rear tire? He will most certainly have to run it under the frame rail in front of the fuel tank. Do you want a 3 inch pipe with at least 1/2 clearance from the bottom of the frame hanging down underneath your truck?

I did this exact same thing on a gas truck I had. It had headers and they hung very low. I ran a 90 on the end of the header outlet and ran under the frame on both sides, and then kicked the exhaust up and along side the frame and then a 45 degree to kick it out in front if each rear tire. Whatever you do, don't let him run under the frame and then keep it at that same height. You will be able to see the whole exhaust hanging down under the truck from a side view, and that looks terrible. It was bad enough to see the headers and the short pieces running under each frame rail.

I have true duals on my truck, and the only way you can run them and keep them tucked up out of harms way is run them side by side down the passenger side of the truck. I then have two turbo mufflers side by side turned on edge, and then both have a 45 degree and then both exit in front of the passenger side rear tire. It had glasspacks on it before, running out the rear, and it was terribly loud. It made this loud popping noise when you had a load on the engine.

This is how the 2.5's and mufflers are on my truck but they have some intricate bends to let them get around the massive hitch and exit behind the rear wheels. I really like the sound, but it can get loud and slappy on dino. It's much more "refined" on bio. My only real objection to this setup is it looks a little weird having the sideways mufflers, as they're visible from the side and stick down about 3". But hey, the truck ain't exactly a looker anyway. I highly recommend this setup, it does add some power and economy I'm sure but can't compare really b/c the truck came this way.

I know there gonna be loud. Probably just like a 460 true dualed straight pipes. I've never had but 2 v8s that werent true dual straights. Loud exhaust is what I'm going for.
