Hmm... sounds like your rear gears were low enough (numerically higher) that your shaft reached the critical speed? No amount of balancing will prevent it from going nuts then. If that was the problem, a larger diameter tube (or thicker, or both) is the answer.
Thank you for that...you are probably right...I had a steep rear gear and short tires... could probably math-out the driveshaft rpm and be astounded...the poor thing was probably flexing...come to think of it...

This is why I am here...the brain trust here is phenomenal...

Not only that, but good thing he doesn't charge Dr. wages for his nuggets of wisdom.

Due to a couple of short paychecks and two unexpected vet bills, I didn't get my property taxes paid this year so I got to drive to two county seats and get those paid a couple of days late. :dunno Then U went on to work on my garage addition some more and I got the fourth wall put up. Now it's down to making some doors and doing some trim work. Naturally, I didn't buy enough 2X4s so I'll get to go buy some more in the morning.

Definitely hear where you're coming from! Ever since the beginning of the "covid" BS just surviving has become difficult.

Drove to the in laws for Christmas dinner and presents. I don't remember what thread I saw it under recently, probably the max sustainable rpm's one, but at 70 mph I'm solid at 2500 rpm.
I also have 4:11, narrow ratio zf5.
I can do 85, but oh boy does my engine sound unhappy.
