Thank you for that...you are probably right...I had a steep rear gear and short tires... could probably math-out the driveshaft rpm and be astounded...the poor thing was probably flexing...come to think of it...Hmm... sounds like your rear gears were low enough (numerically higher) that your shaft reached the critical speed? No amount of balancing will prevent it from going nuts then. If that was the problem, a larger diameter tube (or thicker, or both) is the answer.
This is why I am here...the brain trust here is phenomenal...
