I get wanting to get rid of the idi, but like has been said above if you think your gonna just put it in and hook up some wires your in for a big suprise. The easiest way would be to buy an IH harness and ecm, that way its all on the engine, at that point it just needs constant power and key on power.

My parts list I've been gathering for the swap:
Complete engine/trans harness's
Idm
PCM
Dash harness
Surge tank
Still missing:
Radiator
Down pipe
Fly wheel/Clutch
Hoses
Frame rail fuel lines to modify the current idi routing
And apperently wiper motor as the plug is different on the 96/97 depending what harness you get and I have a 97 harness so it's another part on my list.

You got some chit to collect there

Personally I don't see it happening for 2 grand at all, not in this instance. I think you will be lucky if in the 3-4 grand range because unfortunately all the little stuff adds up like freakin crazy. For that much I would just do the 12 valve route.

But with that being said I hope it works out for you man and you get it finished.

Leland has the parts list you need and its not going to be cheap unless you can find a donor truck. I got lucky and found a 95 PSD for $1250 on ebay last year to start my swap. It was a lot of work but i knew what i was wanting in the end so i went for it.

But i also knew i wanted to keep the idi for an everyday driver\beater truck so i swapped both engines, transmissions, pcm's, idm, fuel lines selector valve forward, wiring harnesses for the engines and trans. pulled both dashes and just swiched the skins so i didnt have to mess with the whole dash harness. I did have to cut and splice some wires for the radio, door locks, power windows and lighting but it was just two connectors by the e brake assy. i also switched battery boxes because all the brakets for the coolant jug and washer jug are incorperated.

In the end it worked out great i got a great tow\ fun weekend driver and also got to keep the idi that i love as a beater\ daily driver.
