There is a cross member that needs a little shaving to make the filter fit--not much but at least on my truck there was no way the filter would line up with the threads before grinding.
You could always get out the grinder and make room to fit the big blue Donaldson DBL7405, although they are not as cheap as they were when I first switched I like the extra quart capacity it adds to the truck.
FWIW my local NAPA charges as much for the PSD filter as the big Donaldson and last I...
Plus, if your cables aren't allowing full current to flow to the starter it will likely burn out prematurely. It was expensive but I'm glad I made all new cables out of 2/0 and then #2 for a few grounds and charge wire. With new cables, new starter, and new battery the starter turned over so...
when I installed my trackbar I had already been driving it so wheels were on and truck was parked level--trackbar bolted up perfectly with no fighting. I had also installed new front leafs at stock height and new poly bushings in front shackles.
Any chance the small trigger wire on the starter solenoid disconnected or got damaged? That happened to me one time while working on something unrelated.
I just ordered direct from AFE thru their website. Price was about the same as I could find on resellers' websites. Summit racing would have been cheaper but it was a special order with a length wait time indicated. Direct from AFE took 2 days to arrive. They also offer a dry filter media...
I installed a fuse block under the dash for gauges and accessories. Just ran a fused 10 gauge wire from battery hot to a relay under the dash, found a hot-with-key-on wire to trigger the relay, ran 10 gauge from relay to fuse block, and finally a solid ground from chassis to fuse block...
That echoes my experience a bit. Mostly I had a helluva time getting the back bolt or two tight enough on the passenger side. I switched to a cork gasket with a little High-Tack and so far so good, but I did also get more torque on the rearmost bolts. When I removed the old rubber gaskets...
Some people use a relay triggered by the FSS connection on the injection pump. I tapped into a wire from the disconnected chime module that was hot with key "on" and used that to trigger the relay(Think it was yellow with red stripe or red with yellow stripe). Once your trigger wire is set you...
I went ahead and bought the AFE filter and I can say it definitely made a difference. Of course a new filter always seems to be better than the old one but I did notice that throttle response is improved and the engine sounds a bit different. Plus the AFE filter looked to be a good 1/4 inch...
