There is a cross member that needs a little shaving to make the filter fit--not much but at least on my truck there was no way the filter would line up with the threads before grinding.
You could always get out the grinder and make room to fit the big blue Donaldson DBL7405, although they are not as cheap as they were when I first switched I like the extra quart capacity it adds to the truck.
FWIW my local NAPA charges as much for the PSD filter as the big Donaldson and last I...
Plus, if your cables aren't allowing full current to flow to the starter it will likely burn out prematurely. It was expensive but I'm glad I made all new cables out of 2/0 and then #2 for a few grounds and charge wire. With new cables, new starter, and new battery the starter turned over so...
when I installed my trackbar I had already been driving it so wheels were on and truck was parked level--trackbar bolted up perfectly with no fighting. I had also installed new front leafs at stock height and new poly bushings in front shackles.
Any chance the small trigger wire on the starter solenoid disconnected or got damaged? That happened to me one time while working on something unrelated.
I just ordered direct from AFE thru their website. Price was about the same as I could find on resellers' websites. Summit racing would have been cheaper but it was a special order with a length wait time indicated. Direct from AFE took 2 days to arrive. They also offer a dry filter media...
I installed a fuse block under the dash for gauges and accessories. Just ran a fused 10 gauge wire from battery hot to a relay under the dash, found a hot-with-key-on wire to trigger the relay, ran 10 gauge from relay to fuse block, and finally a solid ground from chassis to fuse block...
That echoes my experience a bit. Mostly I had a helluva time getting the back bolt or two tight enough on the passenger side. I switched to a cork gasket with a little High-Tack and so far so good, but I did also get more torque on the rearmost bolts. When I removed the old rubber gaskets...
Some people use a relay triggered by the FSS connection on the injection pump. I tapped into a wire from the disconnected chime module that was hot with key "on" and used that to trigger the relay(Think it was yellow with red stripe or red with yellow stripe). Once your trigger wire is set you...
I went ahead and bought the AFE filter and I can say it definitely made a difference. Of course a new filter always seems to be better than the old one but I did notice that throttle response is improved and the engine sounds a bit different. Plus the AFE filter looked to be a good 1/4 inch...
That's what I would do. In fact, I would probably just use male and female spade connectors with plenty of heat shrink and call it good. As long as the connection is solid and protected I can't see the type of connector being an issue in regards to how the tach functions.
I checked a few specs from different brands and they all come up as 1.3 or 1.29 OD for replacement bushings. I tried to measure the ID of the OEM track bar on my D60 and 1.3 does appear to be correct. My track bar still has the original bushings and I suspect they were the press-in type with a...
A $30 Equus mechanical coolant temp gauge has worked well for me. Again, test it in boiling water to make sure it's accurate. I swapped out to Auber Instruments digital gauges so I could wire in my own idiot light/alarm combo--their sensors seem to be accurate as the mechanical and digital...
As to #2, the hard line from lift pump to filter housing isn't under much pressure at all and can be swapped to 3/8 hose with ring clamps--though I prefer 3/8 fuel injector line clamps. I can't recall for sure but I think the filter head inlet is 1/4 NPT--a site search will find that info...
Just my .02 here but I found trying to thread the bolts for the mechanical pump while keeping the gasket in place was a PITA and switching to e-pump was worth it just to never have to mess with those bolts again. Leaning over the engine with both arms buried while blindly trying to thread bolts...
Just wondering if anyone has used the large round filter Afe offers for N/A engines. Is it just an overpriced option or is it better than the cheapo paper filters?
3G is pretty easy as I recall. Well worth it to simplify the wiring and increase capacity. I think I used 2 gauge for the charging wires and a MegaFuse & holder with rubber cap. Zero problems and seems to put out enough voltage to keep my AGM batteries happy 4+ years now.
