    Low Vacuum Pressure Switch

I paid $120ish in 2017, but I got it the next day. And I got a free replacement twice for $0, so far. Saved a good $300+tax because it was $150 by the time I had to warranty it, twice in a short amount of time. The second replacement has been good for over a year, so far. Being able to make a...

Hot hot should my e4od run?

The C6 in the RV ran 180-210 in the pan, with a deep aluminum pan and a big cooler.

    Low Vacuum Pressure Switch

The brake light would randomly go on and off in the 87 F250, but that was likely the speed sensor in the diff or whatever.

    Low Vacuum Pressure Switch

First time, i wasn't towing. I was braking on a probably 1/3 mile long right turn lane, coming into the NE corner of Amarillo TX. The divided highway I was turning onto, I knew lead straight to a big TA truck stop, but with a few red lights by i40. flashers on, going 40mph in a 65, stomping the...

    Low Vacuum Pressure Switch

BRAKE light I lost power brakes three times on the 27ft RV. First time in 2019, the alternative belt was lost and I didn't know. Second time, in late 2022, a nearly new vacuum pump stopped working entirely. Third time, in early 2023, a nearly new vacuum (that replaced the one from late '22)...

    Low Vacuum Pressure Switch

It hasn't worked in any of the three IDIs I've had, 85, 87, 89. Get a cheap Chinese vacuum gauge. A couple of examples. Analog: https://a.co/d/cwGMiUZ Digital: https://a.co/d/9P8Sqjd I have the digital one I have yet to install.

My '89 is dead, what's happened?

A universal one is $10-30 ;) just avoid Dorman/Napa one. The one I got in an emergency for my bug has a weak return spring so it likes to leave the starter spinning when I let go of the key. I got a Standard (SMP) one from O'Reilly that's definitely differently made, it has a single sided key...

    V-belt tension

Wedged next to the alternator and pulled with one hand, then tighten the upper bolt to secure the alternator. Then tighten the pivot bolt. Just don't go crazy with it is all. It's pretty much the only good way to tension that belt on Econolines like I've had for 5 years. I recently had a...

I use an old one of these to tension the alternator belt. https://www.harborfreight.com/24-inch-general-purpose-tire-iron-93230.html

    EGT questions

How new are you talking? Cars from 20 years ago were in a transitional period. Some still had cable driven throttles but a few years later, on the same models, that was done away with for computer controlled throttle.

That's why I've never tried to buy a Smart car. They require special Mercedes tools.

    EGT questions

People have extreme phobias about older vehicle breaking down, I suppose mainly because they don't know how to fix things and the fear of the unknown is a powerful thing. And if they have kids, the fear can be even worse. They seem to think it's going to be breaking down every few weeks, and...
