Everything is mocked up and integrated with the cars factory geometry. 7.3, C6, and my built 9” with 4.56/full spool, 31 spline.

This is the engine from when I bought the project Brutus truck. I assumed everything was good with it - it’s the first time I’ve tested turning the engine over by hand to test and there’s a clunk of something clashing. I’m drilling two inspection holes in the pan and going to scope and diagnose today. Ultimately I’m accountable, I have a feeling when I flipped the oil pan around and reshaped it, it might be interfering with the bottom end. More to come.

I started the car for the first time. I didn’t install the cam in this and could tell something was off timing wise. It wouldn’t even start without the IP max advanced. The PO had installed the cam one tooth retarded. This is a PSA that the R&D cam needs to be degreed in to 111*/112* +/- 2*. It’s with the paperwork sent with the cam. Should just need to be straight up, dot to dot. Always verify to be sure though IMO. When I was talking to Justin last he mentioned he hasn’t had one that needed to be installed a tooth off in at least 4 years since he had them do a drive hub for his cam specifically.

No worries from me though, I’ll just take it back apart and fix it when I get back to PA this week. Should have a running video soon. Need to order a 460 radiator.

It’s back together, started it, same issue doesn’t idle and appears to be unburned diesel. Compression tested it, every cylinder is over 400 psi. Next stop may be IP/injector.

Knowing you, you've already checked it, but IP timing? When mine was set too advanced it had a loping idle and raw fuel smelling exhaust

Yes, thanks for response though.
I’ve tested IDIs from 0 degrees to in the teens and they still idle like you said. This one will not idle. Almost like metering valve sticking or something. Justin set’s the idle twice, initially via the internal adjustment with the cover off, and then after all the test points checks right before the pump is done. 16cc@750. I could bump the idle up but something is off. I’m going to retard the pump all the way and then restart in the morning incase the static marks are way off.

I just have to throw it out there, but are you sure the IP isn't 180 out?
Could be lol I’ve been going down the diagnostic list today and you never know. That was my next step to triple check after lunch. It has that kind of feel. Either way the cam needed to be adjusted so that was good.

And then there's the "it might be a Chevy 6.2/6.5 pump that's supposed to rotate the other way" issue.
