Hey All,
I thought I would reply. I ordered the Garrett Unit and it solved my issues. Turns out the Rotomaster pedestal was misaligned and I believe was causing the leak. No Issues since using the Garrett Unit.
Hello All,
Doing some work to my ole girl 1996 F350 CCLB 4x4 Dually, 300K miles and it developed some leaks. Decided to clean it up and fix it all. Intake plenums were going so I replaced with Riff Raff billet ones. Those seemed to seal up well. My turbo was leaking as well, couldn't tell if it...
Just bought a used Dana 60 for my swap into my 96 dually. Pulled off the locking hub and found this nut. Any idea what this is? I have the socket for the standard spicer nut but this is completely different. It had a 3 bolt lock/free selector. Any help is much appreciated. FYI it’s a dually Dana...
I agree with you entirely about the decline of pride and workmanship these days. I am part owner in a family construction business, and finding qualified help has been an increasing struggle. Not to mention the shortages and long wait times. The world is truly changing before our eyes. Im only...
The shop quoted $5200 to remove both heads. New valves and valve guides installed with all of the needed machining work to go with it. That price also includes new rockers and the labor to reassemble.
If I can be honest and a bit blunt, it is my opinion that most shops don't really have a clue...
That would be great and much appreciated, like I mentioned before the shop told me $5200 so I’ll definitely be going another route. I originally bought this truck to have as a back up to my 96 7.3 dually. I’ve always wanted to put a slide in camper in it and use it for a weekend camper/dirt bike...
The truck has a zf5 with 3.55 gears, it’s a great truck at highway speeds compared to my powerstroke with 4.10. I’m a tradesman so the service bed is what I prefer. The shop quoted $5200 so I’ll definitely be doing this myself with some used heads or selling as is.
Thanks for the reply. That’s where I’m at too, I’ve really grown fond of this old truck and overall it’s has been a good unit. Still waiting on an estimate from the shop before I know for sure.
Hello Everyone!
I have a 1990 f250 2wd with a service body. Overall the truck is beautiful, no rust, good paint, no body damage, cosmetically it’s 10 out of 10 for a 32 year old truck. I had hopes of putting a Dana 60 under it soon but...
I took it in for diagnosis at a local diesel shop...
It starts right up after one cycle of the glow plugs. I just drove it this morning from my buddies house where I did the work back to my place (about 10 miles). The temperature this morning was around 45F, and it put out heavy white to blueish grey smoke until it warmed up a bit. The smoke...
Thanks for the input, you are correct about the color of the smoke. It has a blue to light grey tint and under power sometimes its almost black like its getting too much fuel. Ill look into timing advance and see if that helps. Cheers!
Hello everyone,
New to oilburners, I have a 1990 F250 with a 7.3 idi. I drove the truck from North Carolina to Colorado and it did great until it recently started smoking white smoke upon start up. It smokes heavily until warm and even when warm it would still put out a small amount of white...
