    Is the advance solenoid disconnected? If it’s disconnected and you advance the pump does the white smoke reduce?

    White is unburned diesel and black is too much fuel not enough oxygen. I’d compression test it. Also i have Deja vu of talking about this same thing with mouse.

    I saw you added some more - thanks and yea something has to be up with the mechanical locking ring would be my first guess but the initial suspicion with this trans is the amount of play in the output shaft didn’t sit well with me.
