Hey guys,
I installed the ride-rite airbags (front and rear) on my truck and made a video documenting the installation process and some problems I faced along the way. I ended up seeing some premature failure on the mounting brackets and firestone was unresponsive to my customer service...
All,
Don't know much about dump beds but have been eyeing the kits on Amazon for quite some time now. I have a 11 foot Lance camper and was wondering if the modifications you need to do to your bed (detaching it from the frame so it can swing) would cause the camper riding in the back to be...
I have no experience in restoration of radiators. It sounds like having a radiator shop clean it out professionally might be orders of magnitude better then the old chemical flush huh?
Man, thanks for the legit offer. I did quite a bit of research and can't seem to find a drop in aluminum replacement. I am not sure i want to invest the time in moving radiator supports at this time.... i have a welder and all just would rather drive the truck then wrench on it for the time...
All,
Wondering if anyone has an alternative to the $400+ Pep Boy's Spectra radiator for a drop in replacement. I hear I should go aluminum but have not been able to find one that has the 15 5/8 element height my truck has stock. Amazon and Ebay searches are all over the place. It looks like...
All,
Thought I would give you all an update and ask one final question. New rockers, lifters, push rods, and fuel return T's are in and the truck runs and sounds great. One thing I noticed is that the oil seems to look a little diluted on the dip stick. It looks almost watered down and i...
Thanks for the offer man, that's a killer price! I'm in a bit of a crunch to get this thing on the road though so i think i will just got with the Rock Auto parts i ordered sat night. I should have checked with you guys earlier!
Thanks for the offer man, mighty kind of you. I would need the rockers because they have a bunch of galling on them now as well as the fulcrum pieces (not sure of the proper name). Do you have a full set of used ones you don't particularly want to hang on to? How much could I offer you for the...
All,
On reassembly I noticed something pretty obvious I had not noticed on disassembly.
When compared to another rocker....
Even the "good" sides seem to have a lot of wear on them. Lots of galling too. I think what happened was that when the tops of 3 of the lifters failed the oil...
All,
Appreciate the concerns, obviously you guys are looking out for me and supporting me in fixing this truck "correctly". The goal right now however is for me to get er back on the road for 2 more years of light service. I dont tow much, mainly driving to work (8 miles) when it rains and i...
Ok brothers, here is a little update. Got everything taken out, scraped gaskets, and inspected cam lobes through the lifter hole with my borescope. All looked smooth best i can tell except the lobe on the very top left. Looks like there is a very well defined hole in it. It almost looks like...
The lower in the following picture is the lifter/rod that we determined was loose by taking the valve cover off. Collapsed?
WTF is this.......? I have 3 examples of this under the hood.
Figured I would wait to pull the lifters out until you guys had a chance to comment.

79,
Thanks so much for the picture. That is great. I will definitely try pulling the lifter and inspecting it. After some reading it looks like the lifter can collapse at the roller on the bottom or at the top? If the roller collapsed then cam damage may result. What components at the top...
What do you know about the surface/connection between the lifter and rod 79? Both the "good side" and bad side of that piston's valves have angles at which I can insert the rod that it goes in much deeper. Not sure if there is a small pocket on the lifter that the rod fits inside and if you...
Found it.....
Rod is not bent. Rocker is not bent. Spring does not appear to be broken.... If I angle the rod into it's hole it catches on a higher and lower surface. Is it possible it is slipping off the lobe on the cam?

Yall, thanks for the ideas. I decided to take a moon shot and fill the fuel filter with fresh diesel form a "trusted" gas station. I fired the old girl up and let her idle for 1 minute. no improvement. The GF is whining i don't spend enough time with her so I promised i would take her...
The SOUND:
Hints:
1. Started while leaving work and got progressively louder on my 30 minute 12 mile commute home.
2. Shakes the cab a bit.
3. Filled both tanks with diesel 5 miles before work.
4. 200k miles on motor.
Post up your guesses. I'll probably start the investigation next weekend.
