    E4OD Shenanigans

Been away from this board for a while. Too damn many (non-Ford) project vehicles.... So, yeah, E4OD does intermittent slips in 3rd and 4th, higher RPMs. Not raising revs enough to say it's an attempted downshift, and not enough to feel the power back off from forward speed. Pulls fluid from...

    Wrong 3G Pulley? Now What?

Yep, pulley on left came on the reman alternator. Pulley on right on old alternator. Note wider groove, that fits belt properly.

    Wrong 3G Pulley? Now What?

Well, heck, that was shockingly easy. After all the pulleys I've worked with over the years, this was the easiest one! I expected an interference fit needing a puller, keyway, and the usual stuff. Nah, knocked off the old one in about 1 second. Have to unmount the new alternator to make the...

    Wrong 3G Pulley? Now What?

Installing 7.3 IDI into E350 Cutaway van: Tough Clearance Issues

Sorry, gents; been distracted with another vehicle.... missed y'all, really! Chain MUST be as short and straight-across as possible. Hoist will try to push up on body.... you WILL smack/scrape the oil pan against that lower brace, but that's structural. No moleste! It CAN be done, but it's...

    Wrong 3G Pulley? Now What?

Hiya, fellas. Been seriously distracted by another (very different) project vehicle lately.. My van has dealt well with the 1-hour trip to that vehicle, until the alt light has been showing up lately. OK, cheap alternator.... my bad. Installed a Delco reman from Rock Auto today. Wrong, shallow...

    Vacuum Pump Pulley Puzzle

Uh, guess I'm still the confused one... Though I think what I'm reading from you, Calvin, is that the shaft of the puller would damage the inner bore of the pulley? Well, this puller fits VERY loosely through the pulley bore.... no sign of damage. But, you're saying there may be damage...

    Vacuum Pump Pulley Puzzle

Whoa, I see some misunderstanding here, Calvin. NO WAY I'd be grinding on the pulley itself.... Instead, I ground down the jaw-halves of the tool. Worked just fine! Thank you for your interest and advice, gentlemen. Much appreciate the thought, and info on better tools! :hail:hail:hail

    Vacuum Pump Pulley Puzzle

Aw, Gary.... respectfully.....I know I may seem like a newbie, but...... :dunno No worries. Will break in the new bench grinder tomorrow. Need to chamfer off the lower back edge of these halves, and I should be in business. And, using the install tool to press the pulley onto the new pump. ;Sweet

    Vacuum Pump Pulley Puzzle

A nearby member of this board told me he'd used the "OEM" brand tool, but it needs to be ground down to fit the jaws down into the seriously recessed pulley. Will be grinding away in the next few days; will report back.

    Vacuum Pump Pulley Puzzle

Got busy in recent months on another project vehicle.... my IDI van is jealous and wants attention! :dunno OK, vac pump must be going intermittent ('03 date code... ya think?LOL) -- brake warning light and hard pedal. New Motorcraft pump from RockAuto in hand. (V-belt one, BTW) But the...

    For you automatic guru's

Don't look at me, Brian..... first time I put my E4OD back in, didn't have the converter fully seated. Crunched the pump gear, bent the converter hub out-of-round....... all that with a zero-mile trans and converter!!!!!! Sheesh. :frustrate

Anybody tried DIESEL HPR in their IDI?

On my second tank of HPR at the moment. And having occasional surging and power loss, which may not be related...... Just changed the fuel filter, and the contents were nice and clear. Only difference this time is that I added Stanadyne Lubricity formula on this second tank. Runs...

    Converting my 1955 GM Coach to a DD50 - Seeking RTS NOVA/Flxible Metro/Neoplan

Haven't been visiting OB at all lately. IDI van's my daily driver, but lately I've been too distracted with my new (to me) converted bus! Nah, Brandon -- Gotta keep it 2-stroke.... Yeh, "Old Look" GM transits can handle inline engines, but not Vs. And, yes, Vdrives are getting more and more...

OFFICIAL Red Head Steering Box Group Buy Thread

Not quite guys. Got sick with flu/ear infectionS for almost 2 weeks... didn't get under mine, as it could be one of two similar units. Harvey sent me a diagram, as it's either 32 or 36 splines on the sector (output) shaft. Urrrggghhh, that tough to wrestle out, eh? That's a formula for...
