    So I have an 085 sitting in a box I was thinking of putting on the 86. But I would sell or trade it if convinced there is a very clear advantage to another set up. It was free and I know for a fact the turbo was rebuilt not that many miles ago.

    I have to politely disagree on the ball missing not causing it to run cold. My 86 6.9 bugged me for a while until I found the ball missing. Using IR temp gun to verify temps. It came up to temp nicely after putting in a new ball and fabbing a new retainer.

    It has been done. It is nearly one of those of you have to ask don’t try it type of project. A person confident on vehicle electronics, electrical, able to read diagrams and decide what to keep, what to eliminate and how to overlay the two electrical systems is what it takes.

    Other than catching up maintenance on a new to you truck is there a reason you are thinking about replacing these items? The CDR valve gets blamed for a lot of things it cannot do. As for the added part it could actually be a great idea....

    Preload applies less when trans is in 4th.... power glows straight through...countershaft and gears not loaded. Is it different in 4th? Unless mainshaft bearings are trash most bearing type noises go away cruising in 4th.

    My transfer case shifter lever does that above 2500 rpm due to pinion angle is off. Can you feel it in the shifter or transfer case shifter? Any chance you got the driveline out of phase on reassemble?

    Metal slave is made by Perfection the clutch company. I was researching one for my OBS PSD. Didn’t check brick, has new already. Rock Auto read the info tab on each. The metal set is what your rock auto link goes to. Sitting here in the dark in good ole Calif.
