    I've replaced it on almost every truck in the remuda. I use these: It's a 40 amp fuse ... comes with comes with 8 gauge (I believe) pig tales about 6" long ... about $11 at O'Reilly. ((EDIT: Part # MAH1 Line: (Lit) made by Littlefuse))

    I'm pretty sure that the problem with the THREE bad ones from NAPA had screwed up / mis-wired regulators ... I can't think of anything else that would cause the type of problems that they were having.

    Welcome to the forum. Use the search function to read-up on "surging" and "air intrusion" You'll need to isolate the intrusion. It could be "plugged" feed line(s) or FSV. My experience: 2 out of 3 "surging incidents" were air in system ... The 1 time that the issue was crap in the lines...

    Update: The second failed alt. was returned to NAPA. The one that they offered for replacement tested bad too!! That's three straight! What are the odds ..?? Anyway #4 was (is SO FAR) a winner. What (who) are y'all using for replacement alternators?

    Hello All, My 2nd replacement alternator (in two months) is "pushing" 12.4V after start up. After I reach 3000 (or so) RPM it charges at 14.2V until I shut the engine down. Upon start up it's back to 12.4V ... etc. What causes this problem? I'd like to understand the issue before I go back to...

    Someone with more experience will chime in. If I remember correctly, your auto trans goes into "limp mode" when it looses signal from the tach. That combined with battery light ... I'm not sure, I'd be looking for a damaged wire in your tach / trans circuit.
