I called today.. the tree line limit may have been weather related..
it looked gross on the webcam.

I called to check if the "dual wheel" restriction was dual rears or tag axles..it was dual rears. whomp whomp.
I have seen the iconic bumper stickers "This car climbed Mount Washington", but I was not too familiar with the details.
I figured it was steep, and I have my doubts if I could get up the hill without the transmission having heat stroke.
So I was looking at the specifics for the drive.

Given the free time I seem to have recently... I did some browsing on the interwebs... to see what the state of BOOB was..
It looks like most mentions of BOOB were about a decade ago.. and things have dropped off/quieted down the last few years. (at least from what google, bing and duckduckgo...
RockAuto is my "quick and dirty" go-to but often they don't have parts for an older truck.. I also use

I am more than happy to continue tossing ideas around.
gathering options, tweaking logistics, getting feedback.
So when the apocalypse settles down a bit, we have a rough plan to work off.
And we are not starting from a dead stop with outdated/expired info.

I posted about my glow plug controller a while back
After replacing my GP's.. the GPC acted weird.
When I unscrewed the terminals to replace it.. the terminals crumbled.
This video is before I changed it out..
(Weird, the link isn't showing.. add this after metacafe.com...
One of the things consumers have in their favor when buying online with a credit card is the option of a "chargeback"
Merchants HATE them.
IF there is a problem with an online order, you tell your credit card company you want to initiate a chargeback against merchant XYZ for a recent...
I've got a "Pyle" brand screen with two video inputs.. (it's actually the brand, not an adjective)
I drive an old ambulance, so I have one at license plate level in the back for backing up, and one high on the box giving me a wide 'rearview', since there is a considerable blind spot directly...
Does it only happen at 75mph?
Do you feel it in the steering wheel.. or in the seat.. or whole truck?
Does it only happens at that one speed? or is there a lesser vibration at other speed intervals?
Is there in increase in vibration as you approach that speed..or is it suddenly there?
I noticed the other day that there are some spots on my fuel lines where there may have once been clamps, those things that reduce vibration on the injector lines. .. (see the first picture)
I've read that not having them can cause broken lines, fuel leaks, and other related headaches.
Anyone...
Thanks AggieDiesel01
I didn't check the relay. I just changed out the plugs.
(I suppose a look-see/once over of all the connections would have been the smart move)
The afterthought was the new glow plugs might be pulling more current through the relay and causing some new behaviors
I finally got around to changing the glow plugs in my 94 E350 with a 7.3 NA
Before the new GPs were installed, when turning on the ignition key I would get the WTS light,
then a rhythmic clicking of the relay, and the volt meter on the dash would move back and forth with the clicking.
After...
I came across this article a while back..
It points out some of the later 4R100 parts that can be used in the E40D..
if nothing else.. it's a quick read with pictures.

I have a 1994 7.3 IDI E350 with 245k on it and it's starting to show.
I can fix some things, but some issues are beyond my abilities.
I am in southern NY (Yonkers/White Plains area) and I would love to find a knowledgeable mechanic that has experience with 7.3 IDI's.. and the tools to fix them...
Just wondering..
Does ULSD affect new and reman'd injectors as much as the original injectors that came with our engines, which were designed for a different fuel formulation (and level of lubricity)?
O-rings and other parts have gotten better/upgraded materials.. so I am wondering if...
Thanks Quickster.. I was thinking of just using some pliers to work them back and forth and up and off..
Selahdoor. Nope. Just the E350. (it's an old ambulance)
Diesel noob here, so I apologize if this is a common sense thing and I am just being a dunce.
I was attempting to change the glow plugs on my '94 7.3 E-350 yesterday.. and I was having a tough time getting the white (plastic?) cap off the tip of the glow plug.
It was cold, and my fingers...
