    Who's smarter?

I am finally selling my first rig, a 1985 Nissan Datsun 720 4wd that I drove the wheels off for 7 years, 50k miles later I am actually getting more than I paid for it. With 3 sets of tires, two sets of wheels, and a FULL mechanical part replacement (I’m not joking if it was there I pretty much...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I put armor all on everything and it really made a difference.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Nope no draw, I used the factory signal wire and factory battery wire I think it’s either the dash light control wire or something ground related.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Now my radio works but it only works when the headlights are off, as soon as I turn them on it shuts off but it does dim accordingly with the headlights but doesn’t make sound.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Unfortunately I didn’t do a good enough job taking photos before we yanked it out although there are some at the beginning of the thread and in the first you tube video. It was stuck in frozen mud up to the axles and we yanked it out in the snow. We needed a big loader or something with chains...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

To be honest that’s been the theme of the truck “not too bad considering it was dropped from an excavator and a front loader with a 16 foot bucket before sitting up to the axles in mud for 10 years”

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I cleaned the inside of my truck and found some interesting stuff, it was very nasty behind the seat and I just hadn’t gotten to it yet. I also got the radio working and in that process I discovered that it had been wired with solid wire and my cab grounds had 12 ohmes of resistance to the...

    Fuel Flow rate 6.9

Most E pumps are pusher pumps not sucker pumps so usually right below the fuel tanks is good.

Ate 2 sets of gps in a month or so

According to my local ford counter the ZD9 plug and the ZD29 plug are the same plug except that the ZD29 is sold in bundles of two, maybe that is also the case for the motorcraft ZD28?

    New truck 1983 6.9 IDI

If I need a pulley for something I take it to my local machine shop. V belts are pretty forgiving and most anything will work.

    96 First Powerstroke

It turns out this rig doesn’t have glow plugs that work either! So I have two diesels with not really working glowplugs, but parts are already on order for the other one. Yes I plan to do the valve cover gaskets at the same time.

'88 manual door lock sporadic problem

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I have done some more research and as I already have brand new ZD29 plugs I think CDDs manual conversion kit is the ticket. https://classicdieseldesigns.com/products/glowplug-manual-control-conversion-kit I have done some more trouble shooting and the factory controller is ticking and...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

My glow plugs are still glowing themselves even with a switch wired in like this schematic. https://www.oilburners.net/articles/glowplugbypass.htm Does anyone have the schematic for a 1987 F250 with the 6.9 in it?

    Backup flood light

I have had good luck with blazers lighting relays at least for LED applications. They are cheap but mine have always held up great for what that’s worth.

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

If you switch the white wire to ground it works fine and gives you a push button system but it only makes sense when the plugs are connected if you test things with a multi meter with the plugs disconnected everything goes all whacky and that was the source of my problems. I was troubleshooting...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

According to wiring guides found on the forum I need to remove the white wire from the controller and ground it via a switch to control the plugs. But whether or not that wire is connected has no effect on the status of the solonoid. Also the solonoid has a 1 bolt voltage drop in it is it...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Something seems to be wrong with the glow plug controller and it is after glowing my plugs a bunch. I thought maybe something was up with the WTS light but I pulled over to check and the controller behind the air cleaner was quite unreasonably warm so I am hopping that my brand new motocraft...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

I changed my glow plugs and I had two that measured 0 and the rest were 0.3 ish ohmes and I replaced with my CDD wiring harness. All the new ones measured 0.3 ohmes and starting doesn’t seem to have changed much. All the old ones were Berus.
