Harmonic Balancer differences between 6.9 and 7.3 NA

Good to know, thank you. Ordered a National sleeve for the spare I found, it's got a decent groove on it

Harmonic Balancer differences between 6.9 and 7.3 NA

I have a 6.9 engine with a harmonic balancer that doesn't seem correct. The pulley doesn't sit evenly on it and the timing mark doesn't line up at 0 degrees despite the timing gears being set correctly. I've got a harmonic balancer from a newer truck, unsure of what year, but it had a...

    '86 Extended cab project thread

@Lumberjackchuck I bought an AC/DC Tig welder, found a smoking deal on one. Figured I could spend $400+ on the intake or $500 on a welder and just do it myself. I believe the rod said 6013, the plate was definitely 6013. I'll look at the label, I got a ton of different rods with the...

    '86 Extended cab project thread

First truck progress in a while. Shamelessly stole the setup for a Windstar electric fan from @iverger as written about in this thread. Been studying for the PMP exam, trying to use some of the contents of that learning and put it to use for this truck project. Went ahead and made a long list...

    8th Gen 7.3 IDI C.O.I?

Frozenboost.com for your intercooler setup. Not specific to the truck, but it is what several members have used. It is a liquid/air intercooler, btw. Common options also include 7.3 and 6.0 Powerstroke intercoolers. I found a Mishimoto one on Amazon warehouse for $140 a while back, but I've...

    Intake/valley pan gaskets, still unobtaium?

@Old Goat @ttman4 The felpro gaskets have been out of stock and out of production for a while now. Lots of websites have them listed but haven't had stock for 2+ years

    '86 Extended cab project thread

Haven't done much since the intake, life and holidays taking precedent over the truck. Also working on the F150 RV so I can sell it and use the funds for more truck stuff. I did pick up some 5/16 aluminum sheet to make my own airdog style fuel setup as well as a few Frantz bypass filters to...

    Rockauto "out of business"?

I usually just search for Rockauto 5% coupon and it gives me something, like from Retailmenot or Reddit or some other place. Alternatively the Rockauto newsletter email often has a featured forum, that forum will have a code listed somewhere.

    Yukon Duragrip in Sterling 10.25

For the price of that thing I'd be getting an Eaton Truetrac. Plenty of posts on FTE about people ditching the Yukon for the Eaton unit. No clutches to worry about on the Eaton. Any cost savings would be eaten up by the necessity to remove it and install something else should there be issues...

    Vacuum Pump Oil Trailer Thread

My setup will be one or two Viair air ride compressors setup with valves much like the above video has done, albeit on a much smaller tank. I picked up some camlock fittings as well and will get a 1-2" suction hose from Harbor Freight and the corresponding camlock fittings to make for as mess...

    strange whirring noise.

If yours is 2wd, check the nut on the yoke on the back end of the ZF5, they have a tendency to loosen themselves and cause bad things to happen.

Our beloved FL1995 oil filter is no longer cheap at Walmart

Bypass pictures are great. Seems like a good location, good idea on the welding tip. I've got a couple motorguard units that say they can handle the full oil flow PSI, but I'd rather slow it down and that may be the ticket.

@ttman Do you have pictures of your Frantz setup? I've got a couple of those as well as a few of the Motorguard units. Looking for a good spot to mount a couple, I like your idea of using them in series.

@94turbocrewcab-lb I'll be installing either a Frantz or a vintage Motorguard in my truck as a bypass, I'll write up when I do. I've got both, I like the Motorguard unit more.

@Mike053 Linked below is the tool I used to swap my springs out for Comp Cams springs without removing the head. Worked great. Bring the piston to TDC and then use the tool. Might be worth using a different bolt so that you do not strip the one that holds the rocker arm down...
