    Pre-fuel Filter Required?

I'm concerned for a couple reasons. The truck has sat rusting away for the last 13 years. During that time there were at least two different theft attempts, someone tried to steal the front wheels and tires, and another time someone opened a door and tripped the security lighting and ran. I've...

    Pre-fuel Filter Required?

Set a Holly Red on the frame rail just in front of the tank selector switch. Put a check valve in front of the pump. Thought it was a pimp set, and then realized I set the fancy Racor filter up in the engine compartment for easier servicing. That's great, but then there's nothing to filter...

7.3idi clutch slave throw distance question

That's the problem, the repair site is literally in a remote field. I'm solo. I suppose I can just push the clutch to the floor and block it there, then go underneath. I'm guessing I'll be able to measure the gap through the inspection cover. Thanks

7.3idi clutch slave throw distance question

Converting from E4OD to ZF5. Have everything mounted including the new pedal. Just used a vacuum bleeder until nothing but fluid came out. The slave only moved the clutch fork about 1" travel. Since the entire manual shift on this type of vehicle is new to me as well, I'm not sure if that's...

    Farting Around

Moving along with the C350 project. Installed a Holly Red pump at the tank selector with AN6 lines along the frame to a new Racor 500 clone water separator/filter/heater. Had to fab a bracket to mount where the now useless OEM jack went. (Have to get one for the 35" tires on the 4" suspension...

    What are these Sensors?

Does that signal go to the PCU that then activates the solenoid at the IP?

    What are these Sensors?

These sensors are on each side of the engine, by #1, and #2 cylinders. I thought the one on the even side was the water temp. I know the oil sensor is in back just off center of the block. What the one by #1 ?

    AC Vacuum Line

    Thank you!

    AC Vacuum Line

Working on something else I discovered what I believe is a broken vacuum solenoid for the AC. I planned on using a piece of heat shrink to couple it back together unless anyone knows of a female type coupling available that won't restrict the already small ID.

    Bricknose Gusset Fun

$20 fix. Not perfect, have to drill new rail mount holes, but will do the job for ta mild performance build. If I ever need more power I'll probably drop a PS DIT in. But that's a story for another time.

    Bricknose Gusset Fun

Here's a picture from 2010 with it hooked to my 27' cabin cruiser. Had a engine fire in 2011 and it's sat collecting mold until November '23. Found a donor with a fresh 7.3 and ZF542. It had a E4OD. Am in the final home run to fire up. Details, details...

Taking it to a local fab shop to see what they can do.

    Bricknose Gusset Fun

Swapping out a E4OD to SZF5-42. The donor was a '90 F350 XL crew long bed, receiving rig a C350 XLT Lariat crew short bed. Apparently the crossmembers are not the same. The flat one came from the donor and the ZF mounted up perfectly with the member turned around with the 90° on the driver side...

ZF with 1356 case install in one shot?

Splitting is definitely the way to go. I didn't realize how light the 1356 really is. Besides, discovered rust on the input/output shafts. Treated with Naval Jelly and light grease should work for another 35 years. Have a before of the 1356 and after jelly zf attached. Both were equally as...

ZF with 1356 case install in one shot?

Hoping for words of wisdom from anyone that has crossed this bridge. Trying to set the transmission jack up for the installation and can’t figure out how to get perfect level with both transmission and transfer case connected. Hoping not to split them just to install. Any suggestions would be...

    1990 7.3idi AC V Belt Bracket Diagram

Feeling kinda stupid. I have all three volumes,(2,600 pages), of the factory repair manuals, a EVTM manual, and a Haynes manual on disk, along with a Chilton's manual in hardcopy, have OCR the digital copies, created hundreds of bookmarks, and searched for days for the bracket install diagram...

E4OD to ZF542 Clutch Pedal Question

Seeing as the new clutch master and slave with new hose is still in the box and waiting to be installed I'm guessing there's a whole lot of air in the system right now. Gonna have to mount the tranny before mounting the slave and hose though. Just got the engine installed this Friday. Want to...

E4OD to ZF542 Clutch Pedal Question

Nice. At least I only spent a few hours gnashing teeth before admitting defeat and posting. Thanks!

E4OD to ZF542 Clutch Pedal Question

Found a donor truck that had sat rusting for 15 years, been picked over by unknown others, and aside from the heinous condition of everything, got the engine to fire up and even though it was missing axles, determined the ZF was also good. Unfortunately, the steering column was already sitting...

Anyone ever heard of Hi-Tech Engines in Spokane?

Yes. Just dropped the donor engine in after a little clean up and a couple upgraded parts.

Anyone ever heard of Hi-Tech Engines in Spokane?

All I know about the history is the previous owner had it backed up to a garage door and it didn't move for around 15 years as the 3rd member would only turn in reverse. Just discovered yesterday that guy passed away and the guy he was renting a house from sold the truck as salvage when they...

Anyone ever heard of Hi-Tech Engines in Spokane?

Doing a reseal and detailing a donor 7.3 and discovered a rebuild sticker. Says “Assembled with pride Hi-Tech Engines Spokane, Washington “ There’s a serial number for the build. I couldn’t find anything with a phone search. Was wondering if any Washington guys knew about them. I never met...

    DB2 Fuel Intake Thread

Oops, 3/8 I didn't expect to, especially with a regulator, but I upgraded all the fuel lines to 3/8" PTFE thinking only of aesthetics. Am detailing out and resealing the engine on a stand now.

    DB2 Fuel Intake Thread

So then, if I was to upgrade to 3/8" from the new regulator to the IP would that make it a 3/8" JIC x 1/2" ORB? Or, a 5/16" JIC to 3/8" adaptor as an option?
