    Is your truck a 6.9? 7.3 idi? 7.3 idit? I made a 350 dollar goof getting a idit flywheel for my 7.3 idi and had similar issues as the idi and idit are balanced differently. Not saying that this is your issue, but I have made this mistake myself.

    That's how I've done several probes. Just gotta have trigger discipline. The wife's 88 suburban had egr ports on the exhaust manifolds that I drilled out and tapped in the same manner. 1 1/4" plugs. Works like a charm.

    Think of that valley pan rip as a windshield. Now that pressure has been removed, what is that crack gonna do? Especially now that it is getting colder so the heat/cold cycle is a bit more. As well as disturbed being it is a gasket. That set of dice your rolling is loaded against your favor.

    I agree with this. Although I have more faith in the sleeves, the cost is almost the same as having a reman long block delivered to your door already sleeved and rebuilt. I'd just have it cleaned up and punched 20 as mentioned above for the cost. Just my opinion, of course.
