Problem in wiring on truck, for trailer connection.

Excellent thoughts. I've decided not to work on it today because it is just raining too hard. I don't have a garage or carport. I could rig a tarp, somehow, but it's raining hard enough that I'd still be getting wet. I'm retireded. I don't HAVE to get this done today, so I'm not gunna! LOL...

Problem in wiring on truck, for trailer connection.

This looks just like my connector. It's a 7 round. And a 4 flat built in, on the side. So I can use either kind of connector. I don't know what it looks like behind the bumper. I haven't checked yet. Tomorrow I will have to build some kind of rain cover, then I will crawl under there and see...

Problem in wiring on truck, for trailer connection.

Thank you. I will look for the tee. I believe the problem will be there, or between there and the trailer connector itself. That sure as heck sounds like it! Thank you. I'll check the ground to that light. Deal is, the light on the truck works correctly, in every way. Whether the running...

Problem in wiring on truck, for trailer connection.

I'll check but I'm pretty sure it's not the bulb. That light and entire system works just fine, on the truck. It's only on the trailer that it doesn't work. Pretty sure it IS the wiring at the connector, or somewhere just before it. Just hoping someone else has had the same sort of problem...

Problem in wiring on truck, for trailer connection.

Just to get this thread rolling, I am going to describe the problem I am having... Later, I will do a test using a light probe, to find out what is actually happening inside the connector that is on the truck. Hopefully if I describe the problem, someone else has had this problem, and will...

Old fuel. Should you run it or pitch it.

Yep. With the cost of fuel now, I'd run it through an old tee shirt. Or coffee fliter. Mix in some diesel kleen. Then run it as much as 50/50 with new diesel.

Running new motor oil vs waste motor oil?

After the fall, the damage to the tote, and the fact it doesn't seem to actually be new engine oil... Did he still charge you full price?

    1989 7.3idi n/a hard hot start/no start when warm??

My gut says that you need to turn down the fuel by at least a flat, then turn up the timing by the thickness of a dime, one or two times. White smoke at startup is fuel that is not being burned.

    92 dash stuff

Ok, I didn't take any pictures because I was interested in getting work done, not documenting it. Watch the video above and you'll get the gist. I can testify that the Standard Motors PS60 does indeed work with the factory gauge. With the factory gauge and the idiot light sending unit, if...

Running new motor oil vs waste motor oil?

I carry a tank of water in my truck, every few weeks. 325 gallons. That is 2697.5 pounds. Truck drives like a dream. No problem whatever.

Here's a good video of the solution: This is the sending unit you need. https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Motor-Products-PS60-Pressure/dp/B000C7ZT3E/ Note, this should work, up through 92. I am not sure about anything 93 and above.

I did my own because I don't like the wires they use in these 'kits'. I used wires that are at least 2 to 4 gauges larger than the ones they use. Plus I am certain of all my connections.

    92 dash stuff

So. I have learned a couple things. Well, kind of already knew, just didn't know the details. Already knew this oil pressure gauge was more or less just an idiot light. Just didn't know how it was set up and worked. Here's the data. The 'sender' unit... It just an idiot light unit. If there...

Still have to figure out why the resistor would burn up. Looking at the 3 lugs there... I am going to assume that the connection that goes through the resistor goes out to the oil sender unit. Next assumption is that the oil sender unit is a simple resistive ground. More/less pressure =...

Also, one of the first things I did to this truck was the headlight switch. It was burned up. I learned that it was such a common problem, that even Home Depot carries the headlight switch and connector! I replaced the switch. Along with it's connector. And then built up a complete wiring...

    92 dash stuff

Brand new headlight switch. No idea what GP would have to do with this. ~~~~~~~ I'm betting this is the oil pressure signal. If you look at any of the others, there is a 'sig' and a 'gnd'. I'd assume that is for signal and ground. I have pointed those out for the volt meter on the left...

    92 dash stuff

Coming home on sunday, I saw a small curl of smoke creep up from my dashboard. Not a lot of smoke. Just a bit. And only barely detectable as electric in nature. Today, I removed the dash, to see if I could find the culprit that released the magic smoke. Don't want to end up stranded on the...

SOS!!! park failed, rolled back into road, jacked knifed trailer, damage!!!!

Steel cable is a lot smaller and can do the same job. Just use a cable that is the same thickness as the thickness of the links of the chain you would have used. Each link is made of steel rod of a certain thickness, bent and welded together. That thickness is the size of cable you want to...

SOS!!! park failed, rolled back into road, jacked knifed trailer, damage!!!!

Winch or come-along, won't work. It requires the strong jolt/jerk. Have Nero hook the chain to his tow hitch and drive away from you.

SOS!!! park failed, rolled back into road, jacked knifed trailer, damage!!!!

I have straightened a bumper out again, before, by wrapping a chain around it. Anchoring the chain to a tree, then driving away from the tree, to jerk on the bumper.

SOS!!! park failed, rolled back into road, jacked knifed trailer, damage!!!!

The good news is that it looks like it is supposed to clear up pretty quickly, and even get into the 80's by sunday. So you guys shouldn't have to work in wet dreary conditions!

    Bullnose front Recovery Hooks?

Or you could just use hooks like the ones Matt is showing off in this video, (@ ~ 8 minutes.), and bolt those to the bottom of the frame. It's what I was thinking of doing.
